The darkest day
It's now time to go to the other area that is available to us as a Great trainer, Bleak Beach. Before we go make sure you have some raw iron ore and stone on you, as you need them to craft the most important item for this region. Bleak Beach is accessible via the gate in Withered Wasteland near where you found Drilbur. When you pass through the gate Professor Tangrowth will join you, but he is too scared to venture further given how unusually dark it is. Go ahead of him and you'll get a good view of the new town.
You should be able to see the rubble that was a Pokémon Center in the distance. Use any type of block to rebuild the bridge over to the Center. It needs to be at least two blocks wide so that the Professor can walk across it. When you arrive at the Pokémon Center the PC has been flooded and won't work. In order to fix it you need to use Rock Smash to break the blocks that are stopping water from flowing into the ocean, and you also need to replace the missing blocks on the sides of the fountain.
Logging on
With the water cleared the PC should buzz to life. Go over and activate it and check out the challenges in order to progress the story. We need to wait a while before the next event so this is a good chance to explore the town. A large part of the quest for this area is about placing utility poles to power everything, and you will need a lot of utility poles in order to get things working. There are some spare poles dotted around, but ultimately you'll need to craft about 30 of them to fill in all of the gaps
You'll notice there are stone blocks in the floor that have a dark dimple in the middle as you explore the island. You need to place a utility pole in each of these spots in order to get the island powered up. This takes a lot of time so it's worth keeping utility poles on you and placing them whenever you see the opportunity. If you are short on iron ore there is plenty available in this area. Use Rock Smash or Rollout on any rusty metal you see and it will turn in iron ore for you to collect.
Helping out Meowth
After a short time exploring, a Meowth will show up and start talking to Professor Tangrowth. Go over to join in the conversation and they will ask you to follow them to their house. When you arrive you will see that the house is flooded. Place some blocks at the edge to stem the flow of water and speak to Meowth to complete this request.
After some more time spent exploring, or more likely placing utility poles, Meowth will have another request for you. This time they are complaining that their shack is too dark, and they would like two mushroom lamps to brighten things up. You can find mushrooms in the nearby cave, to use for crafting the lamps. Place them in Meowth's shack and talk to them again to end this request.
Cleaning up the oil spill
With the lights now turned on Meowth will finally take notice of all of the sludge all over the island. They tell you that Piplup can help out with cleaning up the beach. They can be found in the Hydrated Yellow Tall Grass habitat. If you break the block near the fenced off sandpit nearby then water will come in. You can then use Leafage to pull up four grass patches near the pool, and wait for Piplup to appear.
Once you have registered Piplup in your Pokédex, you need to get them to follow you. Stand on a patch of sludge and Piplup will use Bubble on it. You then need to finish up with a Water Gun for the sludge to disappear. You only need to clean up the sludge in front of Meowth's shack to complete this request, but you'll need to clean up a lot more of it later on so it's worth trying to get rid of as much of it as you can now.
