Making a frying pan

If we want to learn how to make a frying pan, we first have to talk to Professor Tangrowth. He'll tell us that in order to make one we must first learn how to smelt copper. While he's thinking of a way to do that he advises us to first talk to Machoke who has been looking for us.

Before we take on their request we need to dig up some copper ore. This can be found inside soil blocks with shiny pieces, and you can break them open with Rock Smash. Plenty of these blocks can be found in the area near the veggie patch. Grab at least 30 copper ore before you move on to the next part of the mission.

Magmar and smelting

Once we speak with Machoke they tell us that they are curious about what is hiding behind the metal gates you sometimes see around the world. Follow them down the other railway track to the metal gate and take it out with your super cutting skills. This will prompt Professor Tangrowth to call and let you know that you need a smelting furnace to make the copper ingots you need.

While the Professor doesn't know how to use a furnace, he knows that Magmar does. Luckily, if we follow this path a little further down then we will find everything we need to make the Digging and Burning habitat where they live. Pick up the wheelbarrow and excavation tools, then place them near the smelting furnace to create the habitat.

It shouldn't take long for Magmar to arrive, and you can register them in the Pokédex. Get them to follow you, and then place the copper ore we collected earlier into the smelting furnace in their habitat. Once you see that they have started working, you are free to explore further as the metal takes a little time to smelt.

Learning to Rollout

While we wait for Magmar to finish working we can learn a new skill by taking a request from Machoke. They say that they miss their old pal Graveler and would like to hang out with them again. We built the Mossy Boulder habitat earlier, and they should have moved in by now.

Register Graveler in your Pokédex and speak to them again. They'll tell you that they don't like hanging out with Machoke, and ask you to transform into them to do the hangout instead. They will then teach you the skill Rollout which you can learn via Transform and will make you move faster.

Flipping burgers

After we've picked up our new transformation we're ready to collect our copper ingots. Return to Magmar and you can collect the ingots directly from the furnace. Take the ingots back to your workbench and you can craft a frying pan. Place it on the stove in the kitchen and cook four beans. This will create a Simple Hamburger, and when eaten it will supercharge your Rock Smash ability so you can punch through tougher rocks.

While we were away Scorbunny was perturbed by a noise that can be heard inside an inaccessible cavern. Now that we've eaten our hamburger we're strong enough to smash through the tough rocks barring the entrance. The cave can be found hidden in the volcano to the right of the Pokémon Center. Like seemingly everything in this area, there is a lot of volcanic ash covering it up, but you can find the entrance by following where the tracks lead.

Digging out the music

If your super strength subsides before you reach the tougher rocks inside you'll need to munch on another hamburger to get your strength back. Inside the cavern you will find DJ Rotom. Talk to the speaker and they will float off out of the cave looking for somewhere to party. Return to Scorbunny with your findings.

Before we follow DJ Rotom, we need to collect some items for later. The harder stone in this area often contains iron ore and we'll need some of this for crafting. Make sure a Fire-type is following you and go back to the smelting furnace, this time placing at least 30 iron ore inside. We are free to leave them as soon as they start working as this can take a while. We're then ready to head up the steps to the area where Machoke taught you strength to find DJ Rotom once more.
