data sourcing

Heya, I just want to let you know that while the transparency is appreciated, ideally you should be sourcing information and game data from the games themselves and not other fansites, some of which even state they get their data from us which creates a problem of circular data verification, notwithstanding the licensing concerns. It's also worth noting that our licence is not compatible with commercial fansites (game8, Fandom) as such information from these sites can't be directly copied, even with attribution. 4iamking 00:34, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Is the data from the non-commercial fansites fine then? They were verified by players from different parts of the world. I was looking at the sites from https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Encyclop%C3%A6di%C3%A6_Pok%C3%A9monis

Affiliated EP wiki's are fine yes, but its also worth remembering that they are fan wikis and may contain errors. The best is always if you can personally verify the game data from the game itself. 4iamking 02:09, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
