The Gloire City Pokémon Showcase Master Class (Japanese: トライポカロンマスタークラスグロリオ大会 Glorio TryPokaron Master Class Tournament) is an animated series-exclusive tournament held in the Kalos region. Pokémon Performers who have earned three Princess Keys are eligible to enter and compete for the title of Kalos Queen.
In Master Class Choices!, Monsieur Pierre announced that the Showcase would be held in Gloire City. The tournament took place from Master Class Is in Session! to Performing a Pathway to the Future!.
Competition
Opening ceremony
During the opening ceremony, Monsieur Pierre takes the stage and welcomes the audience, announcing the start of the Master Class. Twenty-seven booths rise from the stage, each containing a participating Performer, who must use her three Princess Keys to unlock her booth and line up on stage. Monsieur Pierre then introduces the tournament’s special judge, Palermo, followed by the current Kalos Queen, Aria; both give brief speeches. Afterwards, Monsieur Pierre explains the rules of the Showcase, and the match-ups are revealed, having been chosen by random seeding.
Rounds
Unlike in Rookie Class Showcases, contestants have to deliver Freestyle Performances from the very beginning as there are no Theme Performance rounds. The competing Performers are divided into trios and whoever receives the highest number of votes is declared the winner of their group and advances to the next round. Another notable difference between Rookie Class Showcases and the Master Class is the voting system; while in the Rookie Class only the audience's Glow Caster can be used to vote, in the Master Class people all over the Kalos region are able to vote by using devices similar to smartphones.
Preliminaries
In the first two rounds, Performers are allowed to use only one Pokémon. Each Performer gets a turn performing individually before the three of them perform simultaneously, where they are allowed to affect the performances of each other. In the first round, the 27 competing Performers are reduced to 9, which is further reduced in the following round until only three Performers remain for the semi-finals.
Semi-finals
The semi-finals are almost identical to the previous rounds, except for the fact that there are no simultaneous performances anymore. Performers also have to perform using two Pokémon this round. The winning Performer advances to the final round and earns the right to face current Kalos Queen.
Finals
As the winner of the previous Pokémon Showcase Master Class, the Kalos Queen has a guaranteed spot in the final round, where she must defend her title. In this round, Performers are allowed to use up to six Pokémon and, as in the semi-finals, they take turns to perform individually. The Performer who receives the most votes will be crowned the winner of the Master Class and Kalos Queen.
