Fog?

What's it do there? If no one answers, I'll soon have a Roserade, so I could check... TTEchidna 05:50, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

I think it just doubles the power of Weather Ball, keeping it a normal move. I used it on a Kecleon in the fog, and it didn't change type (either normal or typeless). ---- Glitch and Official Pokémon. There is no real difference between the two. In my opinion, the two should be considered equal!-- quoted by Missingno. Master 13:33, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Water?!

According to the top of the move page and the in-game description, Weather Ball is a Normal type attack. But it is classed Water type in the column on the right, and on Castform/Roserade pages. Is there something I'm not getting? It also states that the power is 100. Technically, the base power is 50. The boosted power is simply an added effect with specific conditions, much like Revenge or Pursuit. As I'm a total Wiki newbie, I'll let someone else edit the pages.... :-P Dargad 01:57, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

It changes during times, so when you refresh the page, it becomes a different type.--FF(editstalk) 02:02, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Actually, this one changes depending on the season. Come back in a few months! — THE TROM — 04:51, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

STAB

When Castform changes type because of the weather, does this mean that Weather Ball will have STAB? Ggled 21:26, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Yep. The two will always be the same time, and hence have STAB. — THE TROM — 22:18, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Wrong. Sandstorm. ht14 22:45, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
Also, Roserade never gains STAB from Weather Ball. Unfortunately, no Grass/Poison type weather conditions. xD Lucadan (Talk) 00:27, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Total damage?

So base power is 50, doubled to 100, STAB + 25?, and weather bonus for another 25? Total of 150, correct?--FromCrimsonToWool

Be specific...Castform right? That should be right...depends on the order though...could be 187/188... ht14 00:19, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, Castform. My bad.--FromCrimsonToWool 03:09, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
The question is really whether STAB and weather effects are a mulitpliers (x1.5) or additions (power + power x 0.5). If they are both a multiplier, then it will be 50x2x1.5x1.5=225, whereas if they are both addition then it could be as low as 150, as high as 225, or somewhere in between. This is of course assuming STAB and a weather condition which boosts move power. User:Werdnae (talk) 04:57, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

I would lean more towards the lower, 150 figure. It would seem to me that handing you a pokémon that could output 225 at level 30, would be a bit of a game ruin-er. Not to mention the ability to control multiple different major elements.--FromCrimsonToWool 06:45, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

It's 225. Any multipliers are multiplications, check Smogon, they're almost always right. R S E FR LG 21:31, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Egg Moves

Can someone fix the Egg Moves list to show that they are only in HGSS? R S E FR LG 03:03, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I'll get that. Btw, the preview button is your friend. —darklordtrom 03:04, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Weather Boost

Are we 100% certain that it gets the weather related stat boost? Because I've seen a few sites that don't list it, has it been tested using the game? DrStubbsberg 10:05, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Yes. I'm pretty sure from my in-game experiences with it, and Smogon also says it does. Smogon are very reliable when it comes to battle mechanics, so if they say it does, then it almost certainly does. Werdnae (talk) 10:19, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Physical or Special?

In Generation III, this move does change categories when the type changes, just like Hidden Power, right? Could get a trivia mention if that's true. --Enervation 18:19, 23 October 2011 (UTC)

I've tested this some time ago, and while Weather Ball changes categories and can be countered by either Counter or Mirror Coat depending on its type, Hidden Power will in fact always be countered by Counter in Generation III (even though it does use the appropriate stats). This is reflected on the respective pages, and I don't think Weather Ball behaving as expected deserves any special mention. Nescientist (talk) 11:29, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

Fog Boost

Does Weather Ball's power increase in fog? Since it's type doesn't change I'd guess not, but the effect section is rather unclear on this point. --AndyPKMN (talk) 16:10, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Shadow Sky

If it is used under Shadow Sky, is the move physical or special? TorchicBlaziken (talkedits) 18:56, 19 June 2013 (UTC)

Neither, since it turned into a ???-type move. — Reshi643 (talk) 19:31, 19 June 2013 (UTC)
That can't be right—it has to use either Castform's Attack of Special Attack stat, and either the target's Defense or Special Defense stat. Can it be counterattacked by Counter or Mirror Coat? --SnorlaxMonster 04:23, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
It activates Counter. Nescientist (talk) 11:29, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

Z Weather Ball

I've been testing Z Weather Ball in doubles on Pokemon Showdown, but it always ends up as Breakneck Blitz regardless of what the weather is. It always does Normal-type damage, but its entry on Bulbapedia says Breakneck Blitz will turn into the corresponding type of what Weather Ball would be in the current weather. Had this been tested before it was added to the article? I've tried combinations of starting with the weather setter in play and using Z-Weather Ball turn one, switching the weather setter in while using Z-Weather Ball, and waiting for a turn of weather to pass before using Z-Weather Ball, but nothing seems to change the Z move's type. Scribbl 15:51, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

Don't trust derivatives to be accurate. Testing in the games is always the only thing that's truly accurate. Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:54, 4 February 2017 (UTC)
I've personally tried this in-game, and the information on the page about Z-Moves is accurate. I would recommend submitting a bug report to Pokémon Showdown. --SnorlaxMonster 16:05, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

That's what it says in the hidden text in Weather Ball's source HTML code. I think this page would need cleanup. --Bfdifan2006something to say? 16:05, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Yeah, the amount of templates for the in-game screenshots is absurd. Could be worth attempting to create a template that merges all of them? Maybe a Weather Ball specific version of the template?--ForceFire 16:46, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
That sounds like a GREAT IDEA, Force Fire! --Bfdifan2006something to say? 16:55, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
This is still relevant and the page is still broken half a year later, so I'd really prefer ideas that can be put into action rather soonish. Nescientist (talk) 21:05, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Gigantamax Weather Ball

What will happen when Gigantamax Eevee or Blastoise uses Weather Ball? Clayblockunova (talk) 14:47, 16 September 2023 (UTC)

Sorry, but someone on 52poke have found this: [1]Clayblockunova (talk) 01:17, 17 September 2023 (UTC)
