Talk:Pokémon predation

I was wondering, could we have a section or alternate page detailing or listing Pokemon known or mentioned to eat humans? For a personal project. ```` - unsigned comment from HeWhoMustNotBeAggravated (talkcontribs)

Sure. From what I can gather in a few minutes we have:
  • all ghosts that consume energy from humans
  • pokemon like drowzee that eat dreams or golbat that sucks blood
  • potentially victreebel
  • maybe cacturne
  • kyurem had such reputation in that one town
  • Yveltal? Guzzlord?

Can you name anything else as of now?--Rocket Grunt 20:28, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Surprised we hadn't already thought of this. Landfish7 20:48, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Ecology

The section about Pokémon species being rivals is fascinating, but I'm not sure if it still fits on this page. It started off focused on competition for food, but then shifted into a broader discussion about rivalry in general. I think this content would be better suited to its own dedicated page on Pokémon Ecology.

Ecology is the study of the relationships between living organisms, including humans, and their physical environment.

A Pokémon Ecology page could cover a wide range of topics, such as:

  • Interactions between different Pokémon species
  • Relationships between Pokémon and humans
  • How Pokémon relate to and impact their environments

This would give the topic the depth it deserves without straying from the main focus of the current page. Rocket Grunt 17:42, 11 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

I'd definitely be interested to see what a draft of this would look like. I could also see "Pokémon rivalry" being its own article as a subtopic, with "Pokémon ecology" acting as an overview page that briefly explains and links to the various topic articles like predation, rivalry, etc. Landfish7 17:47, 11 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Carnivorous Pokémon with unspecified prey

There are a number of Pokémon whose Pokédex descriptions include mentions of hunting prey, such as Quagsire (RSE, Diamond), Chimecho (LA), and Sylveon (SM), but they aren't included on this page because their prey isn't specified. Should they be listed under a separate header on this page, or would there be a better way to cover them? -- Apopheniac (talk) 12:20, 17 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

There's a lot of them so I decided to leave that out. I think we can just assume if Pokemon is based on a predatory animal then it is one too.
