Talk:Pokémon Newspaper Strip

Possible move?
From what I’m seeing, the strip was just called "Pokémon", as seen on the individual strips, and “Newspaper Strip” was just a stylistic choice to use title case on the one collection. Would it make more sense to call it Pokémon (comic strip)? I mean, it can be Pokémon (newspaper strip), but on Wikipedia the latter term is a redirect to the former. I’d be fine either way--KnightGalarie (talk) 03:47, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- I think "Pokémon Newspaper Strip" is probably the correct title, but I wouldn't mind a change if a better title should be used. You see, there's this intro in the book Pikachu Meets the Press (which I added now to the article): "This volume contains the entire Pokémon Newspaper Strip series published in newspapers across the United States from September 10, 2000 to March 30, 2001, plus a bonus week of all-new strips!" --Daniel Carrero (talk) 03:58, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Well that helps clear things up. A second instance adds intention, a reiteration that would find it very hard to push for a page move and be successful. Thank you for the insight. I wonder if creating redirects at the titles I mentioned would still be okay. And that "Pokémon Newspaper Strips strips" still sounds very very dumb regardless--KnightGalarie (talk) 04:04, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Alright, you're welcome. Thanks for the insight too. I'm trying the title List of Pokémon Newspaper Strip comics now, maybe it looks better. I also added a link in Pokémon (disambiguation), which would be for several things named simply "Pokémon".
- That said, I'm thinking we probably shouldn't create redirects like "Pokémon (strip)", "Pokémon (newspaper strip)", or "Pokémon (comic strip)". I'm not sure if they would help much... Are people likely to type the full title "Pokémon (newspaper strip)" with parentheses and all, looking for this page? If they type that into our search or Google, they will find the correct page anyway. For the record, I couldn't find these exact pages on Wikipedia. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 04:31, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oh, I understand now what you said about Wikipedia. The article "Newspaper strip" is a redirect to a section in "Comic strip". Alright. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 04:38, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- I actually added the strip to the Pokémon disambiguation before you did. I didn't put it at the bottom because the list clearly had a literature section going on. Figured it would be right for it to take root there--KnightGalarie (talk) 05:42, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Oops, I should have paid more attention to the Pokémon disambiguation page. Thanks for adding that point there and also for fixing my edit. --Daniel Carrero (talk) 05:57, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Parenthetical disambiguation is mostly an internal wiki stylization, not something people actually search for. We shouldn't be setting up redirects from them in most cases. --SnorlaxMonster 06:17, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
