Date reference
I don't think we should use the Amazon listing as a primary source for the date, especially since it keeps changing dates and it isn't even the official retailer, Viz Media is. I want to put forward a motion to list the release date as "Unknown/Pending" UNTIL we get a listing on the Viz Media website. Eeveelutionred (talk) 07:14, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
- I agree that we should put the release date as "unknown". Based on the precedent set by other arcs, Viz won't want to have a volume containing both ORAS and SM chapters, and volume 65 is likely to contain primarily SM chapters. So, Viz is probably planning to move the end of the ORAS arc - contained in volume 65 - to volume 64. Which means that they can't release volume 64 until volume 65 comes out, and the release date for that is currently listed as unknown. Therefore, the Viz release date of volume 64 is also unknown. - As for the trivia point about its release date being delayed...I think Amazon has just been making those dates up. Even now, it's inconsistent - only Amazon UK lists October 9 as the release date; Amazon US and Amazon Canada both say they don't know when it'll be available. Other websites that list release dates are using January 1, 2030, which is obviously a placeholder. I don't think we should delete the trivia point entirely - like, I think it's noteworthy that the book has had a confirmed ISBN for this long despite having an unconfirmed release date - but I would suggest we clarify that the dates come from Amazon and stop listing them after the placeholder date. - Typically Amazon's dates for books they're selling in advance do come from the publishers/distributors, so they're not completely made up--if they're given a placeholder/incorrect date they'll just relay it. They're a secondary source for the exact same dates you'd find on any other book retailer, since they all come from the same publishers' backends.
- The Kindle listings in particular are directly added by the publisher (since otherwise Amazon couldn't offer it on Kindle in the first place). Since it's since been taken down, I think "Unknown" is fine until we get more information. Abcboy (talk) 01:16, 10 September 2025 (UTC)
