British slang

Isn't 'mankey' also British slang for dirty? -BJG

bloody mankey! Evkl 07:16, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I've heard 'mank' but not 'manky'. Maybe I just live in the wrong place? --FabuVinny 03:39, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Well, manky is but mankey isn't... But it's years old now...--Jake30502 11:45, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Mouth

Mankey doesn't seem to have a mouth, how can it eat?? -- 16:18, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

it's one of those things. Meowth doesn't have a nose but can still smell.Solar Dragon 16:32, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
Doesn't it use it's snout or pig nose to eat? - unsigned comment from Takiromisu (talkcontribs)
Probably just hidden under the fur or something. Also see Drifloon, who seems not to have a mouth but was in fact shown to face one. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 19:16, 3 June 2010 (UTC)

Moveset at Birth

How does he have 5 moves at birth? How does the game handle this? --Aescula 08:10, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Covet is skipped over, and can only be obtained via move relearner. --SnorlaxMonster 08:18, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! I assume this is basically how it goes for Mr. Mime and others the same? If I wanted to tell someone what they had at birth, use the last 4? --Aescula 08:23, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
Yes, that's how it works. The egg basically "learns" each move on that list in turn, then each egg move/TM move that the father knows, forgetting the earliest learned ones like in the day care whenever it gets to a fifth move. Werdnae (talk) 08:29, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Mankey name origin

Maybe the name is a reference to the movie "The Return of the Pink Panther? I just recently watched it again and the main character, Inspector Clouseau, has an opening scene where he keeps on rambling about some begging monkey. But because he has an outlandish French accent all he ever says is something between "mankey" and "minky". Thought that, that might be worth mentioning. The movie released in 1975 so someone who watched it growing up, would have been in the right age when the games were first localised. Still, all of it is speculation of course. - unsigned comment from Dippi (talkcontribs)
