This item is referenced in List of items by index number (Generation IV), but except for in April Fool's Day 2010, I can't find any other reference to it. Can we confirm it as an actual item, or take it out of that page? CorporalStone 16:49, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

It is a real item... nobody knows the use of it though and it may just be an un-used item with no use at all. It's programmed into the games, so that's why it is on that page. (Yaminokame 16:53, 3 May 2010 (UTC))
...Are talk pages that aren't associated with any mainspace page supposed to exist? 梅子 17:47, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Looking through a text dump, it appears to function similarly to the Manaphy egg in Ranger.. it transfers some sort of data to a currently unreleased game. There's data for "View Lock Capsule Card", "The Lock Capsule was delivered safely" (in the context of a notice, it's grouped in with all the other notice stuff..) and the in-game bag text is "A sturdy Capsule that can only be opened with a special key.". I'm pretty sure Game Freak is going to do something with this... ▫▪Ťïňắ 17:48, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
The real question is, why doesn't the page exist? I'll make it. TTEchidna 17:55, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

I got myself a lock capsule via pokesav, and could send someone one for study if their interested (i attached it to a shiny "movie 13 entei" i created, because Canada won't get that event, and probably wont get the lock capsule event, unless it's a wi-fi event. Canada never gets these events). I'll simply create a magikarp, attach a lock capsule to it, and send it via sendpkm. You can release the magikarp after wards if u don't want it. Contact me @ [email protected] if your interested.--Kongu Chaos 19:37, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

But if you hack the Lock Capsule (which apparently won't have any use), can you unlock the screen that says "The Lock Capsule is held in the strictest safe-keeping" and allows you to send it out?--Purimpopoie 21:59, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
There is no 'Use' option on the Lock Capsule, so not by forcing it into the player's bag and trying to use it there. The interface itself, presuming that one exists probably has not even been found yet but the dialogue string "The Lock Capsule is held in the strictest safe-keeping" exists within the game code. --Chickasaurus 13:26, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Bad grammar

"The Lock Capsule (Japanese: ロックカプセル Lock Capsule) is a special key item present in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver whose use is currently unknown."

Can somebody with sysop privileges rewrite this line to something like "The Lock Capsule (Japanese: ロックカプセル Lock Capsule) is a special key item present in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Its use is currently unknown." please.

This is in Black and White

According to Serebii, this is used to get TM95 in Black and White. [1] Serebii also records no way to get to it on it's items page, so I guess Nintendo plan to release it for HGSS and then you send it over to BW. Hmmm after all that fuss it just turned out it to be a way of getting an event TM... Jmvb 10:43, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Transferring?

How exactly does that work? From what I've heard, you can't transfer Pokémon with held items to Black & White. Besides, the Lock Capsule is a key item, isn't it? --AndyPKMN 11:44, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

It would perhaps be through a special interface we haven't found yet, or DS Download Play, where the "The Lock Capsule was delivered safely!" message is used? --Chickasaurus 07:51, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Proof of opening the Capsule

It was stupid to directly post to page as I should have put it her first, but there is absolutely no proof that the Lock Capsule is openable. There are pieces of evidence to suggest you can, but there has been no legimate way of opening it, even if you tried to activate the supposed event via Action Replay. On a far lesser extent, there has been no proof of it being transferable. If Im wrong correct me, but the problem is most events in Black and White are no longer triggered only via item. Like the Liberty Ticket event, either you need the item legitmately or you need to use hacking to actiate the event. Still there is no video that shows it being opened, no guide that shows how to do it nor is there an existing (or known) code to open the Capsule. Most of the current information on our page and other sites is speculation. Correct me if I'm wrong

Working Lock Capsule!

Apparently I'm the first person in the world to get this to work. Created a custom Mystery Gift that hands out the Lock Capsule, distributed it to HG/SS with https://github.com/polaris-/nintendo_dwc_emulator, and then I could transfer it to B/W with the Relocator and unlock it as intended. Video showing Lock Capsule event in its entirety

Not sure if y'all think this belongs on the main Lock Capsule page, but I recently made a YouTube video showing the Lock Capsule event in its entirety, as well as instructions on how it can be opened. This appears to be the only recording of the event ever filmed, as far as I can tell. The person who commented above me in this Talk page, in the video I showed his forum post that he linked to that included photos of him completing the event. He said above that he thinks he's the first person to complete the event, and while of course I can't say if that's true or not, I can say say that after doing a lot of searching around online, I couldn't find anyone else who'd posted pictures of themselves participating in the event -- either before or after his original forum post back in 2014.

Here's a link to the YouTube video showing the Lock Capsule event being completed, I'll leave it up to the mods' judgement whether this belongs on the main page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ignZ44-k3L8
