I think this was not fixed for American White 2
On April 8, 2016, I actually had this glitch happen to me on an English copy of Pokemon White 2 which I bought from GameStop. I also have a copy of Black 2 (also English) but I have tested this glitch on it to find out it does not happen. I have edited the article to include this information. Also for clarification the serial number of the copy of White 2 I was playing is IRDON0J13. This might help to identify if it is an older copy of the game which may have been released before the glitch was noticed. I also have a copy of Black 2 (also English) which I tested this on, but it didn't happen. Both of these games were bought from GameStop, so I am 100% certain they are not fake or counterfeit.
