Talk:Emergency Exit (Ability)
Does Emergency Exit break Arena Trap or Shadow Tag? I know that Mean Look, Block, and Spider Web don't work on Golisopod/Wimpod abilities. NinjaBoyLao (talk) 23:52, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Emergency Exit and no other Pokémon in trainer battles
I assume that if you are in a trainer battle and a Pokémon with Emergency Exit is the only one on your team, then Emergency Exit won't activate? If so, maybe it's worth writing about it in the article? Swam (talk) 13:47, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- "it will flee in wild battles, or switch out in Trainer battles". Given that there's no running from a trainer battle, I think it's pretty obvious that if you can't switch out Golisopod due to it being last pokemon, ability that makes it switch out would also do nothing. - Well, I guess you're right. In that case, I think it doesn't really make much sense to write about that. Swam (talk) 20:43, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- I see no reason to not add it either. As it is now, it suggests that even when the Pokemon is last it would still come back to Poke Ball and reenter the battle again.--Rocket Grunt 20:55, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
- I checked moves that switch user/target out and we do mention this kind of interaction. With that, I change my opinion. Also, if you add it here, add it on Teleport and Parting Shot articles too, those are the only ones that miss it. Itan (talk) 05:35, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
- OK, in that case I've added that info to articles about Emergency Exit and Wimp Out (Wimp Out works the same as Emergency Exit so I assume it will work the same in that scenario). I'm not sure exactly where to add it in articles about Teleport and Parting Shot as the articles show how the effect of these moves changed thorugh the generations and I don't want to place it in a wrong one. About the notice in the pages of Wimp Out and Emergency Exit
I just did an experiment and, turns out; the emergency exit does not trigger when clangorous soul hurts it. I tried it in showdown because its mostly impossible to replicate in the real games, Golisopod nor Wimpod can learn mimic so I can perform it in double battles with an entrainment pokemon and then either pods mimic the entrainment, and then I use entrainment on Kommo-o and then do some chip damage so it could do clangorous soul to lower it down to under 50% HP. But it doesn't really work so I tried balanced hackmons format and set Kommo-o's ability to Emergency Exit and did some really slow but surely a bunch of false surrenders from Goodra. Until I'm sure the emergency exit is possible to trigger from Clangorous Soul, so I used it and, you can tell from the start of the post; it didn't trigger.
I don't know how to post images since I tried doing it by clicking on the image button I saw on making this post, so I don't have proof to show you. Dynamo0G (talk) 14:01, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
- Even if you had proof from Showdown, please be aware that we cannot, by itself, use that as proof that the game does the exact same thing. (Every now and then, in-game research for obscure cases may require the Showdown engine to be updated, for example.) Nescientist (talk) 15:50, 2 April 2022 (UTC)
