We need a separate article for this because the dowsing machine has always been different in every generation. In HGSS it's different still. I'd like to create the article but I can't do much because I still havn't figured out how the HGSS dowsing machine works... Kanjo 20:23, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

You might be looking for the Itemfinder. The Dowsing Machine has only been in DPPt, as part of the Pokétch. —darklordtrom 21:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
I noticed that. It's its own item in hgss though. Kanjo 15:12, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
I din't realise the itemfinder was always called dowsing machine in japanese... Kanjo 15:14, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Move?

Yes? No? To Dowsing MCHN? Keep it here? They're obviously the same item, since in Gen IV you get it from the guy who gave you an Itemfinder in Gen II... TTEchidna 05:44, 12 March 2010 (UTC)

It seems like everything else is being moved to the "new" names, and the Pokétch app is called "Dowsing Machine" as well, isn't it? I guess I'd say let's move it. --ZestyCactus 05:48, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
I say yes. It already says "Itemfinder or Dowsing MCHN" in the article, so it should be titled the newest. Virtual-Z 05:53, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
While I would imagine that I'm going to be in a very lonely minority. I say Not Move. It has been Itemfinder for 3 gens and I still think of it like that. My 2 cents, refunds available.--Beligaronia (talk) 06:39, 12 March 2010 (UTC)
I vote for it not to move as well. I come here for information on each generation, so if I'm looking for info on the dousing mach. I'd like a section about that only, and vice-versa for the itemfinder. Twiggsmgw 05:47, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

English release of Black and White

Since Generation V has started in the English world and the item's name has remained Dowsing MCHN as in Generation IV, I say we move the article to the current name. ポケモンあいこうか 15:52, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

How to use?

We should probably add something to the effect of how to use the Dowsing MCHN in HGSS. It's not very intuitive and we just know someone's going to ask.

Touch. It. Duh. TTEchidna 06:42, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

It is a difficult for some. Look at the number of google hits for "Dowsing MCHN" and you get a lot of how does it work questions. Cricketicecream 9:58, 18, May 2010

I agree, for a large part of HG I always had it open but never touched it (until I did by accident). If I recall, the description (when given) sounds like it will automatically show item locations when open. Details on how to use it wouldn't hurt. Aerte 15:15, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Where is the Dowsing MCHN?

With the redirects going here, I can't find the page that tells you where to find the machine in HGSS. Cricketicecream 9:58, 18, May 2010

How they function

There should be a section about how each itemfinder/dousing machine functions in each generation. Like how in gen3 it points your char in the direction, and i think gen4 has arrows? (haven't played D/P/Pt). Would be helpful. Twiggsmgw 05:44, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

EP142

Should we mention the divining rods used by Meowth in this episode? Vahi 20:11, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Anyone paying attention to this? Vahi 17:57, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

I think that'd be worth mentioning. Ariano (talk) 15:31, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

Since you seem to have the information, would you mind adding it in with any other information you can regarding their use in the episode? --Spriteit (talk) 13:19, 21 August 2012 (UTC)

Gen 6

In the generation 6 section, it isn't stated where and when the dowsing machine is obtained. I think it should be listed, but I don't know where to get it... Nokota (talk) 12:05, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
