Talk:Death in the Pokémon world
Hi. I added a section about ghosts on this page. It might be useful to you. I was also thinking you could add general information about Pokemon eating each other linking to "food" article, or general information about ghost types eating life forces which also appears often in the Pokedex. I didn't find a better source but here you have source of Tajiri on death. There's also a sinnoh myth that could be mentioned about bringing Pokemon to life. There's also book on reincarnation in XY at Parfum Palace. I'm not sure what you think about all these.--Rocket Grunt 14:11, 15 October 2022 (UTC)
- I'll look into these later. I'm trying to only add explicit mentions of death, so information about Pokémon as food might not fit, as death is really only implied there, even if heavily so. Still, I'll think about it. If nothing else a sentence could be added simply explaining that some Pokémon are said to occasionally be consumed by other Pokémon and people, and presumably perish in the process. Draining life forces is also a bit vague, but some instances of this may work. I'll need to look into it. That Tajiri source could certainly be interesting to incorporate as well. And the Sinnoh myth and the Kalos book could also work. Additionally, I think a sentence could be added about how some Fossils appear to be the preserved dead remains of ancient Pokémon. I included a sentence about Fossils in the past but removed it due to it being slightly speculative. But I don't know. I might be able to make it work. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. - Much of this information has now been added to the article in some form. Thanks again for your input/suggestions. I may revisit the concept of Pokémon draining/eating life forces in the future. I'm also still interested in adding info about the Kalos book but I haven't looked into it yet. Landfish7 09:23, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
Death by old age being speculative
Before the statement that Pokémon can die by being eaten, I inserted a statement that they can die by old age, which later was removed for being "kinda speculative".
- I think I had in mind Stoutland (anime) when I added that. Is it considered only speculative that Stoutland (anime) died of old age?
- If so, should Death in the Pokémon world → Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon, which currently claims it did die, also be changed?

- Not at all. Stoutland appears as a ghost in Memories in the Mist!, confirming that it is deceased. PikaRikaChu (talk) 21:28, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
- Is it confirmed that Stoutland died of old age though, or just implied? Landfish7 18:29, 5 November 2025 (UTC)
- Also, can we safely extrapolate that to all species? Pokémon are very diverse, and I wouldn't be surprised if some are straight up immortal. Landfish7 18:30, 5 November 2025 (UTC)

Pokémon lifespans
Relating to the above topic about Pokémon dying of old age: some Pokémon are stated to have lifespans, either with a number or a general description of "short" or "long". There are also dex entries that reference the end of the Pokémon's lifespan (Meltan, Yveltal). While these don't directly reference death, they imply death, specifically by natural causes/"old age". Not sure how that information could be included here. Superfrog101 (talk) 14:27, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
