Talk:Covet (move)

It appears that Covet is a variation of Thief. --Alex S. 01:59, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

*applaud* Keep those comments to yourself. Or you could put it on your userpage... ht14 02:10, 3 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
Really? The move description here has no mention that Covet will fail to steal the target's item, which Thief has.

Checked in Emerald on 20 Vulpixs (always helds item) and Covet 20/20 times stolen the item.--Dominikololo (talk) 12:30, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thief/Covet non-"Damaging Moves"?

So apparently, for the purposes of Me First, Covet and Thief are non-damaging moves--presumably this has something to do with how the "steals item" effect is coded? Experimentally proven in B&W, though not necessarily in other gens. Anyone know if any other moves share this quirk? Harumei (talk) 16:46, 24 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Orre games

Does it really not steal items? It works like it should in Colo's Battle Mode, as does Thief. Most Pokémon in these games don't have items (I think?), and the few that I can recall having one are Shadow... How about checking whether it's true with Trick? Z crystals

does covet affect z crystals if you use it on a pokemon that has one? Reshiespeon (talk) 18:41, 16 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Covet w/ Booster Energy, Cell Battery, Snowball

Reason: Does a Cell Battery or Snowball trigger before being stolen if Covet's type is converted? Also, does Covet fail to steal Booster Energy even if held by Koraidon or Miraidon?

Tested these today for Gen 6-9 to clear the research request in the "Generation VI onwards" section, will add info to article.

Booster Energy: Covet does not have the same limitation with Koraidon and Miraidon that it does with stealing Booster Energy from Paradox Pokemon. Booster energy will successfully be stolen whether Koraidon and Miraidon are user or target of Covet.

Snowball: In the Generations possible, testing electric-type Covet (Ion Deluge, Electrify, Plasma Fists, Galvanize) as well as ice-type Covet (Refrigerate), in all cases 1) Covet deals damage 2) the target's held Cell Battery or Snowball is consumed 3) the attack buff is granted. Covet can't steal Cell Battery or Snowball in this scenario. Charatara (talk) 03:23, 24 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
