Talk:Blueberry Academy

Infobox

I understand the desire to give Blueberry Academy an infobox to parallel Naranja and Uva Academies' infoboxes, but given the lack of information we have about Blueberry Academy's geographic location, the infobox doesn't seem very helpful. A map of the school doesn't tell me where it is in Unova, nor does saying it's in the ocean. In addition, when comparing the infobox directly to the other schools' infoboxes, it looks odd that Uva and Naranja Academy have images of the front of the school while Blueberry Academy just has some key art. I'm open to hearing arguments in defense of the infobox, but at the moment, I don't think that it's a positive addition to this page and I would like to see it removed. I understand your point, and i'm also trying to get a good photo of the school's front, besides, even though we the map does not show where in Unova it is located in, it does give off a really good of where the school as a whole is, including the entrace and Terarium under it. I kinda do like the consistency of having an infobox on this page as well. Since the map has been supressed, that issue is solved, but maybe we could use an image similar to this for the infobox? We should be able to get similar assets for Naranja and Uva Academy as well. → PikaTepig999 21:56, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure about that image though, maybe it'd be better put in some other part of the page, i feel like the infobox's image should be a presentation to the building, so i think a picture of the academy's entrace would suit it better. Trainersurrel0409 (talk) 22:00, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. The entrance shows very little of the academy considering most of it is located under the entrance. To clarify, I mean to use the image of the layout of the entire academy, shown on the right of the screenshot I linked to above. Also, please use proper indents. → PikaTepig999 22:07, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, i understand that, i just think that instead of having it in the infobox, have the map of the Blueberry Academy somewhere in the page as i still think it's better have the academy's entrace in the infobox, just like in the Naranja and Uva Academy's pages. The infobox looks much better with the region map suppressed, so I'm OK with keeping it now. As far as the image used in it, I compared screenshots of the Naranja and Uva Academy layouts, and they appear to be the same regardless of the version. The only difference is the background color of the menu that lists all the locations in the school, but I wouldn't want to include that menu in the infobox image. So I think each academy having a screenshot of the front works best. If the image is taken from the side of the battle court furthest from the entrance, I think it'd be a satisfactory introductory image to the school.
Also, Trainersurrel, please remember to indent your comments on a talk page using colons to make the discussion easier to follow. I've added colons to the preceding comments to demonstrate how the indentation should look. Storm Aurora (talk) 22:57, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Wouldn't be including the menu anyway, just this part, if I did not make that clear. → PikaTepig999 23:05, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

(resetting indent)The problem is that part of the image is identical for Naranja Academy and Uva Academy, and I don't think it's a good idea for two different institutions to have identical infobox images. Storm Aurora (talk) 23:19, 4 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Imo it doesn't matter that much, since most of the two academies are almost identical. But the crest is also a second option. → PikaTepig999 01:42, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Artwork or models of characters?

Currently, the article shows in-game models of most of the characters associated with Blueberry Academy. Should it use artwork instead, for consistency with the article on The Indigo Disk? Benpiano800 (talk) 02:02, 24 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Clearly based on the DreamWorks water park in New Jersey

The stated proximity to Unova and similarity of the roof, fantastical creatures etc. all but prove it. Octaazacubane (talk) 22:04, 24 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

That seems highly doubtful. The two locations don't seem to resemble each other in form or function:
  • Blueberry Academy is a school and the Terarium is a research facility, so them being inspired by a theme park seems unlikely
  • The location and form of the academy: Blueberry is a fully artificial offshore facility, so its 'proximity to Unova' seems unlikely to be reflective of an inland county in New Jersey. The map of the academy has next to nothing in common with the map of the asserted inspiration beyond being indoors and having a large, raised roof (specifically only in the Terarium also); Blueberry is also almost 100% underwater. The presence of "fantastical creatures" in both feels like a stretch.

Occam's razor would suggest the simplest explanation is that the academy is simply based on real vivariums, and more specifically closed ecological systems (such as Biosphere 2, which is even similarly currently under the jurisdiction of an educational institution). I don't believe undue weight should be given to trying to find a real-world match that fits one relatively minor aspect of the facility's in-universe identity (it feels like this whole assertion is built strictly on the idea of 'it has to be based on something that's close to NYC' and other details are being stretched or distorted to facilitate that connection). Sometimes they just include things that don't strictly fit the geography or environment of the real-world inspiration of a region, simply because they want to. Not to get too off-topic, but Unova also has a sunken desert (and ocean) castle, multiple ancient stone towers, and a volcano, but nobody's falling over themselves to justify the existence of those via something in NYC/NY state.

Saying this assertion is "all but prove[n]" feels like a gross misrepresentation. Driftin Soul (talk) 04:02, 25 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
