Alternative universe?

Why does this article say, "He is loosely based on Ash from the original series"? Is this episode not part of the main timeline? If not, has that been officially confirmed? Monarch Satoshi (talk) 11:50, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

It looks like this Ash is a reimagining of Ash from the original series, so only loosely based on him. If A Ripple in Time was to fit in with the Pokémon the Series timeline, it would be placed within Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire since Pikachu knows Iron Tail and Togepi hasn't yet evolved, but at the same time Ash is wearing his original series hat, and Brock and Misty are in their original series clothing, so different elements have been taken from the different series. With no confirmation either way for this one-off short, I'd say the most that can reasonably be said without speculation is that he is loosely based on Ash from the original series.
