Release information

Prototype Pokémon Leagues were given the Trainer Deck B, which included this card, before the Base Set's official release. This print has a red border and "Trainer Deck B" printed on the back. This card was included in the Base Set, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. In Japan, this card was reprinted with artwork by Miyuki Ogino, one of five winning entries of the 64 Mario Stadium Pokémon Snap Best Photo Contest held in Spring 1999. This print has a camera graphic where an expansion symbol normally would be. This print is extremely rare and the exact number in existence is unknown. The Base Set print was reprinted in the Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection expansions.

During the Sword & Shield Series, a Jumbo version of the Base Set print was one of three cards available in copies of the Kanto First Partner Pack, released on October 8, 2021 to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. This print features a foil Pokémon 25th Anniversary logo in the bottom right corner of the illustration window.

In the Scarlet & Violet Series, this card was reprinted in Holofoil with its original Base Set artwork in the Blastoise & Suicune ex deck of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic. This reprint lacks a regulation mark and is thus not legal for tournament play.

Trivia

Origin

Bubble and Withdraw are both moves in the Pokémon games that Squirtle can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
