==Project Routes==
==Scope==
===Scope and aims===
Project Routes covers all articles about Routes in the Pokémon World. The ultimate goal is to create, expand and standardize articles for every route, numbered and named, such as [[Jagged Pass|Hoenn's Jagged Pass]] or [[Diglett's Cave|Kanto's Diglett's Cave]], that has been featured in the Pokémon games and anime. Currently, this project covers every route in the regions of [[Kanto]], [[Johto]], [[Hoenn]], [[Sinnoh]], and the [[Sevii Islands]].
Project Routes covers all articles about Routes in the Pokémon World.

===To-do list===
{{main|Bulbapedia:Project Routes/To-do list}}
*Expand all articles to the project standard.
**[[Kanto]]
**[[Sevii Islands]]
**[[Johto]]
**[[Hoenn]]
**[[Sinnoh]]
*Create and add map template to all articles.
*Add pictures to all route articles.
*Complete the Trainer templates in every Route.

===How you can help===
You can help by opening the [[List of routes in the Pokémon world]] and selecting any route that is a stub (or not a stub) and expand it using your general knowledge or from other facts and figures. Most of the existing route articles need to be modified to comply with the project standard (see below). You can check [[:Category:Route stubs]] to see which articles need expanding.

Most of the existing route articles need to be modified to comply with the project standard (see below). You can open [[:Category:Route articles needing work]] and review what has been noted to need work there. Also, you can check [[:Category:Route stubs]] to see which articles need expanding.

Routes in [[:Category:Routes needing screenshots]] have been converted to the new standard but are missing screenshots for the infobox. You can open this category, see which routes are listed and, if possible, upload a screenshot of that route to Bulbagarden Archives. Once the image has been uploaded, the [[Template:Routeimage]] tag can be removed.

===Quality articles===
As a {{u|electAbuzzzz|wise man}} once said, "We’ve been planting many young shrubs, but in the process, we keep forgetting to water our old oaks." This can be found in electAbuzzzz's [[User:electAbuzzzz/Quality|editorial essay on article quality]], which has more to do with anime Pokémon, however, it is very applicable in this case. Many route articles that have been made, contain small amounts, if not no information, and are subject to broken templates etc.

The ultimate goal is to create and standardize articles for every route, numbered and not numbered, such as Hoenn's Jagged Pass or Kanto's Diglett's Cave, that has been featured in the Pokémon games and anime. Currently, this project covers every route in the regions of [[Kanto]], [[Johto]], [[Hoenn]], [[Sinnoh]], and the [[Sevii Islands]].
In order to create a quality article for route pages, please follow the guide, ''[[Bulbapedia:Project Routes/How to create a quality route article|How to create a quality route article]]''.

==Article status==
You can help by opening the [[List of Routes in the Pokémon World]] and selecting any route in red (which means that there is no article for it yet) and starting that article, or opening any route that you can provide more information about.
===Featured articles===

===Structure===
====Infobox information====
Articles should use [[Template:RouteInfo]], and all known info should be supplied. Route maps may be taken from [http://www.vgmaps.com/], as they are fair use.

====Main Section====
Untitled section that describes the route. Depending on the route this section may just name the direction (E/W or N/S) and termination points, or may go into considerable detail. However, the majority of detail, should be reserved for the next section.

====Route description====
This section is for describing the route itself. The progression of the main path of the route should be described from north to south, east to west unless it makes more sense to describe the route using other directions, such as Routes [[Route 3|3]] and [[Route 25|25]].

====Items====
A list of items found on the route as well as a description of their location on the route.

====Pokémon====
A list of Pokémon that appear along the route as well as encounter rates and times of encounter if possible. Lists should be separated by Generation using third-level headlines. If the route appeared in only one Generation, then the Generation heading is not necessary.

On routes that have multiple ways to encounter Pokémon, they should be listed in this order:
*Grass (Sand in the case of [[Route 111]]; Seaweed for [[Underwater]] pathways)
*Fishing
*Surfing
*Rock Smash
*Headbutt
*Dive

Any of the above items that does not apply to the route does not need to be listed.

Lists should be organised in order of location, then highest to lowest encounter rate. If the encounter rate for a Pokémon is lower in a different game, a repeat of the entry should be made directly underneath except with that particular game highlighted (instead of in the initial entry), and the different encounter rate stated. In the case of multiple Pokémon with the same encounter rate, Pokémon should be listed in order of games they are available in, then their [[Ndex|NationalDex]] number.

The list should take the form of the following:

=====Gen I=====
{{catchableheader|land}}
{{catchentry1|025|Pikachu|yes|yes|yes|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchentry1|025|Pikachu|yes|no|no|Location|Levels|%}}

{{catchtime|all}}
{{catchentry2|025|Pikachu|yes|yes|yes|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchtime|morning}}
{{catchentry2|025|Pikachu|yes|no|no|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchtime|day}}

{{catchtime|night}}
{{catchentry2|025|Pikachu|no|no|yes|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchablefooter|land}}

=====Gen III=====

{{catchentryfl|025|Pikachu|yes|no|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchentryfl|025|Pikachu|no|yes|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchablefooter|land|2}}

=====Gen IV=====

{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|yes|yes|yes|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|yes|no|no|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|no|yes|no|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|no|no|yes|Location|Levels|%}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|yes|yes|yes|Location|Levels|%|GBA}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|yes|no|no|Location|Levels|%|R}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|no|yes|no|Location|Levels|%|S}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|yes|no|no|Location|Levels|%|FR}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|no|yes|no|Location|Levels|%|LG}}
{{catchentry4|025|Pikachu|no|no|yes|Location|Levels|%|E}}
{{catchablefooter|land}}

There are already several good examples of how to set these up, one of which is {{rt|2}}.

====Differences among generations====
If the route was featured in multiple versions and generations of Pokémon, the differences between those should be discussed here.

====[[Trainer tips]]====
Any trainer tips that are displayed on signs on the route in question should be listed here.

====See also====
Place all internal links here.

====References====
Place all references here.

====External links====
Place all external links which are not references here.

====Categories====
All articles should use the following categories:
*<nowiki>[[Category:(Region) locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki> where (Region) is either [[Kanto]], [[Johto]], [[Hoenn]], [[Sevii Islands|Sevii]], or [[Sinnoh]]
*<nowiki>[[Category:Routes|Route XXX]]</nowiki>

All articles should use the following categories where applicable:
*<nowiki>[[Category:Red, Blue and Yellow locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>
*<nowiki>[[Category:Gold, Silver and Crystal locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>
*<nowiki>[[Category:Ruby and Sapphire locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>
*<nowiki>[[Category:Emerald locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>
*<nowiki>[[Category:FireRed and LeafGreen locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>
*<nowiki>[[Category:Diamond and Pearl locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>
*<nowiki>[[Category:Platinum locations|Route XXX]]</nowiki>

For all categories, XXX is the route number (i.e. Route 1 would be 001).

==="Best-Practice" Articles===
Best-practice articles have been set up at [[Route 2]], [[Route 38]] and [[Route 111]]. These articles will serve as the model articles for the rest of the project.

===Goals===
# To organize, standardize, and expand the articles on Routes in the Pokémon World.
# Numbered route articles should be named "Route N" where N is the route number. Non-numbered route articles should be named after the route in question.

===List===
The list page for Project Routes is [[List of Routes in the Pokémon World]].

====Numbered Route====
This is for a route that is numbered, such as [[Route 1]], [[Route 29]], [[Route 101]], [[Route 201]], and so on.

For the above parameters, here's what you should fill in:
* '''article_route''' - Number of the route (e.g. 2 or 12 or 112)
* '''Image''' - Filename for the image that will be displayed in the infobox
* '''size''' - Size of the image that will be displayed in the infobox
