:::::::"I'm using a pencil." is a contraction of "I am using a pencil." which is the equivalent of "Donphan is using Hyper Beam.", which is the complete sentence & doesn't break any grammar law. "I using a pencil" is the equivalent of "Donphan using Hyper Beam", which does not need a period since it's not a sentence without verbs like am/is/are. Taken from your logic. We don't add caption "Donphan is using Hyper Beam." Okay, even then, Donphan using Hyper Beam is a complete sentence, since it '''finishes a thought'''. Perhaps my example wasn't the best, the example still =/= the caption. However, both are still complete sentences. Also, 'using', when taken into the context, is very much a verb, which completes the predicate. :Using is just a gerund without a helping verb in front. The helping verb is what makes it a sentence. Gerund does '''not''' equal a verb. Gerunds cannot take the place of verbs, and do not make a complete thought.
