If a Pokémon that can evolve by [[friendship]] is transferred to a different game using [[Pokémon Bank]], it will be blocked from being able to evolve through friendship. This does not apply to Pokémon transferred using the [[Poké Transporter]]. [[Generation VI]] introduced the mechanic where trading a Pokémon back to its [[Original Trainer]] would regain its original [[friendship]]; as a result, Pokémon keep track of two friendship values at all times as well as a flag for which one to use.
 
At some point in early 2016, [[Pokémon Bank]] had a bug where transferring a Pokémon between two Generation VI games would fail to properly update this flag. As a result, a transferred Pokémon would be unable to evolve by friendship, due to either friendship-affecting actions or friendship-checking actions looking at the wrong value. Transferring the Pokémon back to its Original Trainer through Bank would undo the effects of the bug (as the non-updated flag now refers to the correct value). Trading normally and transferring with [[Poké Transporter]] did update the flag properly and did not cause the bug.
