They are men in [[wp:White coat|lab coats]] and glasses, with the ones in {{2v2|FireRed|LeafGreen}} as well as {{2v2|HeartGold|SoulSilver}} holding {{wp|beaker (glassware)|beakers}} as well. They are often aligned with [[Team Rocket]], as shown throughout the first three generations, and with [[Team Galactic]], as shown in {{3v2|Diamond|Pearl|Platinum}}. In {{2v2|Black|White}}, female Scientists, who were depicted as women with dark hair and glasses wearing lab coats, were introduced.
