Sometime after Colress took control of Rhoder's Haxorus, Rhoder ran to where Haxorus was and tried convincing it to stop by explaining that it was destroying the city. Unfortunately, this did not shake Haxorus from Colress's machinations, and it continued its destructive purposes. Rhoder bumped into Ash and his friends, and introduced himself as Haxorus's Trainer. He then explained that Haxorus was normally calm and friendly. Ever since then, it would not listen to Rhoder. Iris tried resolving the situation by having Dragonite use Ice Beam but was unsuccessful and Dragonite too became controlled by Colress.
Rhoder watched on as his Haxorus and Iris's Dragonite were destroying the city. After a Shadow Ball coming from Aldith's Liepard went astray, Haxorus reverted back to its normal docility and Rhoder recalled it back into its Poké Ball. Suddenly, a fog appeared, surrounding Ash and his friends, and Rhoder walked off, surprised that the group disappeared.
