Get Lugia! (Japanese: ルギアをゲットせよ!! Get Lugia!!) is the fifty-eighth chapter of the Pokémon Pocket Monsters manga.
Plot
After watching Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One with their friends Green and Blue, Red, Clefairy, and Pikachu decide to go catch the legendary Lugia, as the reward would make them rich. Clefairy says he'll catch it first, and Red replies that he's not a Pokémon trainer. Clefairy dresses up as a trainer and puts Pikachu on a leash. Green asks Clefairy why he wants to capture Lugia so badly; Clefairy lies and says it reminds him of his late mother, which is an obvious lie and makes Red beat him up. Clefairy claims he will catch Lugia first and won't share a single penny of the reward. Red questions how he could do that if neither of them knows where Lugia lives. Clefairy says Professor Oak must know, and the two go to his lab.
At the lab, Oak reveals that he also wants to capture Lugia and had already planned to send a research team after it. Oak explains that according to a legend, it lives on a remote island far from where they are. But since Lugia sleeps at the bottom of the ocean, it's necessary to retrieve three mystical orbs from Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres to awaken it. Green and Blue listened to everything Oak said through the window. Professor Oak tells Red that he will provide funds for the journey, and the trio sets off in search of the Legendary Birds.
The trio decides to search for Articuno first and boards a luxurious plane, followed by Green and Blue. Clefairy suggests renting a yacht, and Red complains that they've already spent too much of Professor Oak's money and that he would never forgive Clefairy if he didn't catch Lugia. On the yacht, they search for any trace of the legendary birds' habitat for 10 days. Clefairy sees the silhouettes of the three using binoculars but doesn't know which one is Articuno. Green and Blue appear with a bigger yatch and flip Red's yacht over. Pikachu then uses his tail to propel the yacht, but they crash into one of the islands. Pikachu electrocutes Red and Clefairy out of frustration.
Red, Green, Blue, Pikachu, and Clefairy land on Articuno's island. It is extremely cold. Articuno appears and asks what the group is doing on the island, saying he will only give up his orb if he is defeated. Articuno uses Ice Beam and freezes Clefairy. Clefairy then puts himself in an ice-shaving machine and gets completely shattered. Articuno is horrified by Clefairy's ability to stay alive even after dismembering his entire body. Clefairy awkwardly reassembles his body, and Articuno faints from terror.
After taking Articuno's orb, they go to Moltres' island, which, unlike Articuno's, is extremely hot. Moltres emerges from a volcanic crater, already aware of the group's intentions. Clefairy says that Moltres will be injured, and Moltres responds by attacking him with a Fire-Type move. Clefairy falls into the water but quickly mounts Moltres, claiming that if it drinks Moltres' blood, it will become immortal. Clefairy bites and sucks Moltres' blood like a vampire, but drinks so much that Moltres falls to the ground anemic and weak, and Clefairy becomes so engorged with blood that it cannot move.
After retrieving Moltres' orb, the group sets off in search of Zapdos' island, which is in a stormy atmosphere. Zapdos appears and attacks them; Pikachu unleashes a 10,000-volt attack on it, and Zapdos counterattacks with a 100,000-volt attack, defeating Pikachu. Clefairy attaches a car battery to Zapdos to drain all its energy. Zapdos attempts a 2 million-volt attack and explodes the car battery, knocking itself out in the process. Zapdos gives up and hands over its orb.
With all the orbs in hand, they attempt to summon Lugia by placing them in a shrine. As soon as two orbs are inserted, a point in the ocean begins to bubble close to them, signaling that Lugia is reacting. When Clefairy places the third orb, all three fall to the ground and shatter into pieces. Red becomes extremely furious with Clefairy and kicks him.
Unexpectedly, something was still moving in the water, but it wasn't Lugia, but rather Jynx, who was just swimming in the area. Still furious with Clefairy, Red asks what they're going to do now that they've ruined their only chance to catch Lugia. Clefairy replies that he'll figure something out. The group returns from their trip and meets Professor Oak, who is eager to see Lugia. Red then supposedly calls him over, and Clefairy appears, attempting to fly through the sky in a cheap Lugia costume. Oak asks why Lugia is so fat.

Trivia
- This chapter as a whole is a reference to Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One, with the Legendary Birds and their orbs being closely related to Lugia in the same manner as the movie.
- Inconsistently, Articuno had already been captured by Red with a Master Ball in chapter 13. This is not referenced again at any point in this chapter.
