This card was included as a Regular card, a Full Art ultra rare card, and a special illustration rare card in the Mega Evolution expansion, first released in the Japanese Mega Brave expansion. The Regular and Full Art ultra rare prints feature artwork by 5ban Graphics, while the special illustration rare print features artwork by mashu.

A print of the Regular card with alternate artwork was available as one of the MEP Black Star Promos in the Mega Venusaur ex Premium Collection from November 14, 2025 in Europe and December 5, 2025 in the US.

Trivia

• With 380 HP, Mega Venusaur ex is currently tied with Mega Emboar ex for the highest base HP of any tournament-legal card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
• Mega Venusaur ex's Solar Transfer Ability is functionally similar to the "Energy Trans" Pokémon Power of Venusaur from the Base Set. The only difference is that Solar Transfer can only move Basic Energy.
• The special illustration rare print of this card forms a combined illustration with the illustration rare prints of Bulbasaur and Ivysaur from the same set.
