Hana (Japanese: ハナ Hana) is the main character of Dragonite and the Special Delivery. She is a girl from the Paldea region working as a postal worker, who aims to become an ace mail carrier like the Dragonite she admires.
History
Background
When Hana was young, on her fifth birthday, she received a letter from her grandparents via the mail carrier Dragonite. In the letter, they state they were too busy with work and wouldn't be able to participate in her birthday, but that they cherish her the most and have included a present with the letter, a flower bracelet. This inspired Hana to join the postal service and become an ace deliveryman just like Dragonite.
Dragonite and the Special Delivery
One day, Hana, a postal worker at 12 years old,[1] was sorting letters at her station when she came across a letter with no address. She decided to prove herself and went outside to find the letter's sender with her partner Fuecoco, eventually finding the sender to be a boy named Rio. Rio explained that he wants to send the letter as a birthday gift to his father, who was working abroad in the Kanto region. Hana told Rio that the letter will be delivered within a week, but Rio confessed that his father's birthday was on that day. Hana eventually sought the help of Dragonite to fly her and Rio to Kanto so that they could deliver the letter to Rio's father on time. Upon landing in Kanto, Rio walked up to his father and read aloud his letter, while Hana smiled quietly as she reminisced about her grandparents' letter and the birthday gift they gave her.
In the epilogue, an older Hana has become a mail carrier in her own right. She greets her Dragonite colleague as she sets off to deliver a girl's letter.
Character
Hana is a cheerful and spirited young girl. She finds her desk job of sorting letters to be boring and wants the job where she delivers the letters herself like the mail carrier Dragonite that she looks up to. She is eager and exhibits tenacity when she puts her mind to something, notably running all around Porto Marinada and its outskirts while trying to find the anonymous letter's sender, and asking Dragonite for help to make sure Rio's birthday letter to his father is delivered on time.
She cherishes the bracelet that her grandparents gave as a birthday gift to her, always wearing it on her right hand even as she grows older.

Dragonite is a mail carrier working in the Paldea Postal Service. It delivered Hana's fifth birthday letter, which inspired Hana to work at the postal service. Hana looks up to it and asks it to help her and Rio get to the Kanto region so that Rio can deliver his letter to his father on the latter's birthday.
The epilogue shows that Hana and Dragonite remain on good terms, with Hana greeting Dragonite as the two pass each other on their travels.
