The Gotta Catch 'Em All! Game Show
- This article is about the 2025 live trivia show. For 2013 in-person event, see Pokémon Game Show.

The Gotta Catch ’Em All! Game Show is a Pokémon-themed trivia show broadcast live on the Pokémon Twitch channel. It is hosted by Brian David Gilbert, and each episode has three contestants. The primary mechanic is that each question has a Pokémon tied to it. A correct answer allows the player to catch that Pokémon. It was announced on June 15th, 2025,[1] and the first episode aired on June 27th, 2025.[2]
Episodes of the show are uploaded to YouTube later on, but not immediately after they are broadcast.
Setup
Each of the four people in the show stream from different locations, with Gilbert streaming from a set specific to The Gotta Catch ’Em All! Game Show while contestants stream in front of a green screen. Each contestant is sent two boxes and blindfolds meant for use during certain kinds of questions. The Twitch stream uses the Ctrl+ Stream Kit extension to display info pages and tally votes from the Twitch chat.
Rules
Most questions are multiple choice, with these questions having four possible answers. In multiple choice questions, players have to use their buzzer before they are allowed to answer. Each player can only answer each question once. Certain questions are preceded with relevant video footage from a Pokémon video game.
All questions have a Pokémon accompanying them, which is displayed prior to and alongside the question. The player who answers the question correctly adds the Pokémon to their Collection. There are four Victory Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, and Pikachu. If a player has all four of them at the same time, they win the game. All Pokémon, including the Victory Pokémon, have a One-Time Effect that players can use. The One-Time Effects of Victory Pokémon are stronger than other One-Time Effects, but to use them the player has to have and use two of the same Pokémon. A Collection can have a maximum of six Pokémon, with further acquisitions requiring the player swap out one of their current Pokémon. They can swap out a Pokémon that has already used its One-Time Effect.
| Species | Group | Move | Text | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pikachu | Victory Pokémon | Spark | Select 1 of 3 topics for the next question. | |
| Bulbasaur | Victory Pokémon | Sweet Scent | Select 1 of 3 Pokémon for the next question. | In the first episode, if a player uses Bulbasaur the effect overrides a Pokémon that has been set to appear for the next question by the Twitch chat. |
| Charmander | Victory Pokémon | Fire Spin | Block another player from answering a question. | |
| Squirtle | Victory Pokémon | Aqua Jet | Launch yourself ahead to answer a question. | If another player has buzzed in, this allows the player using Squirtle to answer the question. |
| Ditto | Supportive Pokémon | Transform | Copy a Pokémon already in your Collection. | In the first episode, if a player uses Ditto they must immediately use the One-Time Effect of the Pokémon Ditto turns into. |
| Eevee | Supportive Pokémon | Helping Hand | Discuss and answer the question together with another player. | If the correct answer is given, both players get the Pokémon of the question. |
| Exeggcute | Supportive Pokémon | Extrasensory | Questions in this round are sensory. (Key visual) Change the question to be a sensory experience (visual, audio, or touch) (game) |

| Porygon | Supportive Pokémon | Conversion | Discuss with Twitch to answer this question. | A vote is conducted in the Twitch chat for correct answer to the question. The user is told which answer got the most votes. |
| Ekans | Disruptive Pokémon | Poison Sting | Remove an active Pokémon from another player's collection (their choice). | An Active Pokémon is a Pokémon that has not used its One-Time Effect. |
| Koffing | Disruptive Pokémon | Smog | Remove a random Pokémon from another player's Collection. | |
| Drowzee | Disruptive Pokémon | Disable | Block the One-Time Effect of one Pokémon in the target player's Collection. | The targeted Pokémon is treated as though it has already used its One-Time Effect |

Game progression
The game starts with the Twitch chat voting on which Pokémon each player gets to start with, between Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. No repeats are allowed, meaning the vote for the first player has all three choices available, the vote for the second player only has the two choices the first player did not get, and the final player gets the Pokémon that is left over without a vote. This decision further decides the "team" that each player has, with Bulbasaur for Team Green, Squirtle for Team Blue, and Charmander for Team Red. The team color is used for the game's user interface. such as being the background for each contestant's window ad the background color for their name.
The Twitch chat is asked to vote to decide the parameters of certain questions. They can be asked to vote for which of three Pokémon will appear for the next question or which of three topics will be the topic of the next question, similar to Bulbasaur's and Pikachu's effects. A vote can also be held to declare an incorrect answer as a trap, which will cause the player who picks it to lose one of their Pokémon. Viewers vote by sending "1", "2", "3", or "4", with each number corresponding to a result in the game, and the result with the majority of the votes wins.
If a player wins the game, they have to answer a final question alone and without the ability to use One-Time Effects. This is a Legendary Encounter. If they succeed, that player and their current Collection are recorded in the Hall of Fame.
