Release information

This card was one of four possible Wizards Black Star Promos that people could receive with the purchase of a ticket for the theatrical release of Mewtwo Strikes Back starting November 12, 1999. The English print has a gold foil stamp in the top right corner that reads "Kids' WB Presents Pokémon The First Movie". Unknown quantities of this print erroneously have the gold foil stamp either missing or on the opposite corner rotated 180 degrees, and the stamp is absent from the French, German, Italian, and Spanish prints.

In Japan, it was available as an Unnumbered Promotional card in the Official Card File, released on June 13, 1997.

Trivia

• The French print of this card (which should be named Élektek) erroneously uses the English name of the Pokémon.
• The card's Pokédex entry contradicts the Pokémon the Series episode Showdown in Dark City, as well as Pocket Monster Encyclopedia. Both state that the Electabuzz species are enraged at the color red, whereas this card's Pokédex entry states that Electabuzz likes red.

Origin

Light Screen and Quick Attack are both moves in the Pokémon games that Electabuzz can learn.
