Volt Tackle is a very highly-damaging Electric-type move introduced in Generation III.

Volt Tackle's original name, ボルテッカー or Volteccer, comes from a game called Pulseman, which was developed by Game Freak in 1994 for the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis).

In the anime

The user becomes engulfed in electricity to do damage.

Generation III

By breeding

There is only one way to get Volt Tackle, and even then, only in Pokémon Emerald. First, players need a female Pikachu or Raichu holding a Light Ball, and a Pokémon that is in the same egg group as Pikachu. If the Pikachu and its mating partner are put into the daycare long enough to produce an egg, the Pichu that hatches will have Volt Tackle.

Generation IV

A Pikachu that knows Volt Tackle can be obtained from Pokémon Battle Revolution after beating all of the colosseums once. The move can also be obtained in the same way as in Generation III.

(This may be a reference to Ash's Pikachu who knows how to surf and used volt tackle.)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl is Volt Tackle Pikachu's Final Smash.

In other languages
