(Japanese: So) and (Japanese: Sae) are two characters of the day who appeared in JNS05.

So and Sae met Ash and Pikachu when they stumbled across their house after being chased by a group of Beedrill. So and Sae gave Ash some food before he went on his way. So and Sae met Ash again after he followed Haruto back to their house. Both were kind however So was also very blunt telling Ash simply to pick however many berries he wanted. Ash learned that So was a painter who only painted the sky.

They recognized the blue hat Ash later retrieved from a group of Mankey as belonging to their son Haruto who had died of an illness. Sae explained that she and So were often busy so it wasn't very often that she, So and Haruto got to be together (like Ash, Delia and his own father) however after his death she was taking the time to appreciate the simple comforts that helped to make her happy. So explained he only painted the sky since Haruto often talked of how much he loved it. Meeting Ash allowed the two to feel a sense of peace, and So decided to not only paint the sky but also the forest where Haruto played and the Pokémon who were his friends. Later, Haruto's spirit appeared between them to say goodbye.
