Nintendo DSi

The Nintendo DSi is the second redesign of the Nintendo DS, after the DS Lite. The system will be released in Japan on November 1, 2008 in the colors matte black and white. It will be released in the United States sometime after April 2009.

Changes from the "regular" DS Lite

  • Will be about 12% thinner than the DS Lite.
  • Screens will be 8% bigger than the DS Lite.
  • Will include two digital cameras, at 0.3 and 3 megapixels for the inner and outer one.
  • Game Boy Advance slot has been removed.
  • SD card slot has been included on this model to store pictures taken.
  • Able to store and play ACC music files.
  • An online store able to download games by exchanging "Nintendo Points".
  • DSiWare games will be available for download on the online store.
  • An Internet browser, able to be downloaded from the online store.
  • Higher quality speakers.
  • The power button from the original DS has been restored.
  • Miis will somehow be included.
  • The stylus holder position will move down.

Dual-slot mode?

Due to the fact that the Game Boy Advance slot is not included in the DSi, migrating Pokémon from the Generation III games to the Generation IV games through Pal Park will not be possible when playing on the DSi. This means that the player cannot complete their Pokédex in Pokémon Diamond, Pokémon Pearl or Pokémon Platinum without trading from other games in Generation IV.
