Undubbed character This article is about a character featured in the Pokémon anime who has not yet debuted in the English language dub.
As such, their information may contain romanized Japanese names, rather than dub names.

(Japanese: マキナ Makina) is the character of the day in Dealing With a Fierce Double Ditto Drama!. She is voiced by 沖佳苗 Kanae Oki in Japanese.

Makina is a beginning Pokémon Trainer who owns two Ditto: one with regular coloration and one that has an alternate coloration. She also owns an orange-colored Pokédex.

Upon meeting Ash and his friends, Makina seems incredibly full of herself, calling Ash a newbie Trainer before proudly announcing that she has been a Trainer for one month. She additionally claims that she has no Badges because the Gym Leaders would run in fear of her Ditto. Also, when about to participate with her Ditto in a double battle against a Trainer's Cubone and Marowak, Makina had them both take the form of a passing Zapdos, causing the Trainer and his Pokémon to run in fear.

Despite this tough and confident façade, however, Makina is in actuality quite meek and self-conscious, as well as being a crybaby. She cosplays as Template:E4 of the Sinnoh Elite Four, whom she greatly admires, in order to help her feel more sure of herself.

Makina's first Ditto, nicknamed Ditto #1 (Japanese: メタモン1号 Metamon Ichigō) is of normal coloration, and first appeared to the gang when it transformed into Pikachu, Piplup, Gible and Togekiss and caused mischief until Makina turned up. Ditto was later used in battle against Pikachu, however despite being able to use Pikachu's powerful moves (like Iron Tail and Volt Tackle) it was easily defeated. Team Rocket later attempted to steal both Makina's Ditto, however they escaped and teamed up with Ash's Pikachu and sent Team Rocket blasting off with a triple-Thunderbolt.

As with all of its species, Ditto's only known move is Transform.

Makina also owns a shiny Ditto, nicknamed Ditto #2 (Japanese: メタモン2号 Metamon Nigō). After joining its regular counterpart in causing mischief, Ash battled the shiny Ditto with Infernape. In turn, Ditto transformed into an Infernape itself. After trading a series of Mach Punches, the round ended in Ash's favor. Later, the shiny Ditto helped Ash and company foil another Team Rocket scheme.

As with all of its species, Ditto's only known move is Transform.

Trivia

Makina's orange Pokédex
  • She is somewhat similar to Duplica, having two Ditto (with one of them being somewhat special) and cosplaying.
  • The Japanese names of Makina's Ditto are Ichigō (1号) and Nigō (2号), which means Number 1 and Number 2, respectively. Those names are most probably a reference to the classic 1971 Henshin Heroes series, Kamen Rider. Also, both in Kamen Rider and with Makina's Ditto, Nigō has a slightly different color scheme from Ichigō.
    • It may also be in reference to the Time Bokan series Yatterman, which has two main characters, Gan Takada and Ai Kaminari, named Yatterman Number 1 and Yatterman Number 2, respectively.
  • She, along with Wilhelmina, Temacu, Natalie, Lucy, Holly and Autumn, is one of the few girls to have shown some feelings for Brock. Makina, however, quickly gets over these feelings once she witnesses Brock falling in love with a passing Trainer and once again declares Template:E4 as the one she most admires.
  • Makina resembles Ash's rival Barry in several ways. Both own an orange Pokédex and have lots of confidence and energy. Both also called Ash a bad Trainer and believed that they could defeat him, but lost on their first tries instead.
