The event held during this period is Raikou Research. The Legendary Pokémon Raikou debuts during this event at Greengrass Isle, and marks the first appearance of so-called "Special Pokémon" in the game. Special Pokémon is a classification of Pokémon in Pokémon Sleep, which has the restriction that a player may only have one Special Pokémon on their team (note that they can befriend more than one of each Special Pokémon). For all Special Pokémon, the first befriended Special Pokémon’s Nature and sub skills are identical for all researchers.

During this event, players will be able to gather samples of Raikou Mane, which is traded on the event-exclusive Event Exchange for various items, including Raikou Incense and Raikou Biscuits. The following lists and elaborates on all of the various event-exclusive features:

  • Raikou Mane is a currency that can be gathered by the player during the Raikou Research Event. Raikou Mane is not classified as an item; instead, players may check the amount of Raikou Mane they have gathered via the Event Exchange menu. After the Raikou Research event ends, players may still trade samples of Raikou Mane until the Event Exchange closes, at which point any remaining Raikou Mane will be lost.
Raikou Mane can be gathered by the following:
    • Doing sleep research on Greengrass Isle, which yields various amounts of Raikou Mane depending on the Pokémon species and sleep style encountered. Players can gather Raikou Mane from sleep research once per day; no Raikou Mane can be obtained from the second sleep research of the day. Researching Electric-type Pokémon will yield a greater number of Raikou Mane.
    • Completing limited-time missions. Two sets of missions will be available during the event beginning on each week.
    • Purchasing the Raikou Research Bundles Vol. 1 and Raikou Last Chance Bundles Vol. 1.
    • Research Community: Players may get Raikou Mane from other researchers in their research community who are participating in the same event. The chance of receiving Raikou Mane increases with the closeness level with each researcher.
      • Players who cannot access the Research Community Screen instead are eligible to receive two redeemable gifts each containing 50 Raikou Mane, on March 25, 2024 and April 1, 2024.
  • The Event Exchange is an event-exclusive shop open from March 25, 2024 to April 10, 2024. Players may trade Raikou Mane in the Event Exchange for the following items:

Also, a few Raikou Incense and Raikou Biscuits will be added at a slightly lower exchange rate in the second week of the event.
  • Raikou Incense works the same as any other Pokémon-specific incense, with the added restriction that a player may only have up to 1 Raikou Incense in their bag at any given time. Raikou Incense can be used even after the Raikou Research event has ended.
  • Raikou Biscuit is a type of Biscuit that can only be given to Raikou, which gives it 6 friendship points. Once the Event Exchange closes, any leftover Raikou Biscuits in the inventory will be automatically converted into Great Biscuits.

The Snorlax during the event will always have Grepa Berry (gathered by Electric-type Pokémon) as one of its favorite Berries. This event provides the following bonuses, which apply only if the player does research in Greengrass Isle:
