Much like how every region has a legendary trio, every region also has a legendary duo. These Pokémon often either share traits (such as Latios and Latias) or are polar opposites (such as Cresselia and Darkrai). They are often found after the Elite Four but aren't as important in the main storyline as the trios are.

Duos

The Mew duo

The Mew duo is the legendary duo consisting of Mewtwo and Mew. They are the legendary duo of Kanto. Mewtwo was created from Mew's DNA meaning that the two are basically related. They were both the featured legendary in Mewtwo Strikes Back.

The Bird duo

The bird duo is a legendary duo that consists of Ho-Oh and Lugia and is the legendary duo of Johto. Ho-Oh and Lugia are often regarded as polar opposites. Lugia represents the sea, the color grey/silver and is the mascot of Pokémon Silver while Ho-Oh represents the sky, gold/rainbows, and is the mascot of Pokémon Gold. Both are also trio masters (Lugia is the master of the legendary birds while Ho-Oh is the master of the legendary beasts.)

Trivia
