Release information

This card was included in the Darkness Ablaze expansion with artwork by kawayoo, first released in the Japanese Grimmsnarl VMAX Starter Set. A Holofoil SWSH Black Star Promotional print of this card was one of the Prerelease promos for Darkness Ablaze with new artwork by Taira Akitsu, available in the Darkness Ablaze Build & Battle Box. A variation of this print with a gold foil "Staff" stamp was also distributed to approved locations in the Prerelease Program. As the 2020 Championship Series was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, locations that were eligible for Rebel Clash Prereleases retained their eligibility for Darkness Ablaze Prereleases.

A Parallel Holofoil version of the Darkness Ablaze print with a "Thank You" stamp in the bottom left corner of the artwork was included in Q3 marketing kits that eligible stores in North America and Canada could order from July 2020. Each kit included 100 copies of this variant, 50 Gigantamax Charizard stickers, 25 sticky note pads featuring four Poké Ball designs, and 25 magnet sheets featuring three Poké Ball designs and the TCG logo. Kits began to be distributed in mid-September 2020.
