Glare (move): Difference between revisions

Glare (Japanese: へびにらみ Snake Glare) is a non-damaging Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.

Effect

Glare paralyzes the target. Glare cannot paralyze the target if it already has a major status ailment.

In Stadium, Glare cannot affect a target that has a Substitute.

Pokémon

Arbok. Arbok glares at the opponent and they flash different colors. The opponent is then paralyzed, or Arbok's eyes glow blue, and the opponent becomes paralyzed.

• Used by Jessie's Arbok from The Flame Pokémon-athon! to ???. Debut.
• Used by Pokémon League entrance exam instructor's Arbok under the control of Ash in The Ultimate Test.

Dunsparce. Dunsparce's eyes glow red and the opponent becomes paralyzed.

• Used by multiple Dunsparce in The Dunsparce Deception.

Trivia

• Dunsparce is the only non-Template:Type2 to learn Glare.
• Generation IV is the only generation to not introduce a new Pokémon that can learn Glare. Ekans and Arbok were introduced in Generation I, Dunsparce was introduced in Generation II, and Seviper was introduced in Generation III.
• All the Pokémon that know Glare are snake-based.
• Glare's English name is the same as the Japanese name of the move Leer.
