The Expedition Society has a base in Lively Town. They go on missions with the aim of completing the Pokémon Nexus. The Expedition Society consists of the player, their partner, Ampharos, Mawile, Jirachi, Buizel, Archen, Dedenne, Bunnelby, and Swirlix.

History

Personalities and characteristics

Ampharos is the chief of the Expedition Society. He is prone to getting lost and is very careless when traveling. Ampharos is also laid-back. He calls himself the "Dashing Wanderer".
Mawile is the archaeologist.
Jirachi was born in Star Cave. He is a self-proclaimed genius capable of fixing the Pokémon Nexus. He sleeps most of the time. Jirachi sometimes attacks others in his sleep unwittingly.
Buizel is the marine explorer.
Archen is the aerial explorer.
Dedenne transmits signals between Exploration Society members.
Bunnelby is the on-foot explorer.
Swirlix is the steward and a glutton, so she eats much of the food she makes.

"I could hardly leave you alone in that situation. Those two are serious trouble. Krokorok's not much of a threat on his own, but Krookodile... He's the worst thing that ever happened to Lively Town. And he's strong, to boot. You'll want to be careful around him."

Afterwards:

"That Krookodile is a real villain. You kids should be careful out there."

After clearing Fire Island Volcano:

"Oh, hey, <partner's name>! Looks like it opens up a bit over there."

"Who's there?!"

"<player's name>! <partner's name>! Here he comes!"

After defeating Magmortar and the four Magmar:

"Heh, well... I couldn't have done it without you... or maybe I could have. Heh..."

"N-no! Trust me, I know nothing! Nothing! Hahahahaha! I mean, I don't really know what's going on... But I'm sure the chief knows what he's doing. We'll probably figure it out if we just go a little farther. Anyhow, let's get moving!"

At Fire Island Volcano's summit:

"Yes... It appears it is."

"So you're Entei, huh?"

"Buizel, from the Expedition Society! Depending on what you say next... I'm ready to take you down, Entei!"

"Is that your answer, Entei?! All right, if that's how it is! All that remains is for us to take you out! Get ready!"

"Ughh..."

"<partner's name>...<player's name>...don't try it. There's absolutely no way you can beat him."

After the player and their partner are defeated by Entei:

"Uhhnn..."

"<player's name>!"

Archen

At dinner the day the player first meets Krookodile:

"You two sure have some good appetites on you! ♪ I like to see that! Eat up so that you have plenty of energy to take on some grand adventures!"

"Oh, across the sea."

"That's right. But I can't actually fly myself, so I have to ride on Lapras to get there."

"The Lapras Travel Liner, of course. It leaves from the port here. What, you guys haven't been? Do you want to come with me?"

"If you're really going to fill out that World Map of yours, I think you've got to. Shouldn't you get it out of the way?"

"All right. If that's what you want, come along with me tomorrow. And eat up well tonight! You're going to need your energy!"

The next morning:

"All righty. Shall we make for the harbor?"

If spoken to while en route to the harbor:

"We should get to the harbor."

At the harbor:

"Hmm. I'd rather it was just for fun. But I'm afraid it's just another day of work."

"Don't ask me why, but the boss approved it this time."

"But I'll go along with you this first time, just in case. First we'll have to get you some passes, and then..."

"Huh? Me?! Guess I have to say yes here..."

At the Kecleon Shop*:

"And that's all there is to it. I don't care where we go. Just give us the cheapest passes you've got."

"Ha...ha ha..."

When woken up by Lapras:

"Huh? What?"

"I feel like I've been sleeping for hours... Where did we end up, anyway?"

"*yawn* I guess my brain is still sleeping, because I've got no idea where we are... I'm completely lost. Why don't we fire up the Expedition Gadget's map and have a look? What in the— Th-the Air Continent?! Wait... What? We...we came all the way to the Air Continent?!"

"All you had to do was take us to some little island near the town! How could you dump me here, Lapras?!"

"Urk! I did? I never even looked at the passes that I bought... Sorry, kids. And this is your first trip overseas and everything... Look at me, runining your first big trip because I wasn't paying attention..."

"Erm... Just for a little bit then. Well, this is Baram Town, anyway. It's got a café and shops and all, just like back in Lively Town. You can go exploring dungeons from here, too. All the dungeons from the Air Continent can be reached from right here, in fact. But we're not going to any of them today. You got that? We'll have a quick look around the town and then get you two back home safe."
