Brock's Forretress (Japanese: タケシのフォレトス Takeshi's Foretos) was the first Pokémon acquired by Brock in Johto, and his fifth altogether. Its Japanese voice actor is 石塚運昇 Unshō Ishizuka.

Brock caught Forretress as a Pineco near Azalea Town with one of Kurt's Fast Balls while trying to pick Apricorns. Later in Brock's journey through Johto, Pineco evolved at a hot spring while trying to save a herd of wild Pokémon from Team Rocket.

Forretress had some character development. As a Pineco, it was very surly and temperamental and tended to blow itself up and Brock along with it. After it evolved into Forretress, it seemed to like Brock more, and began to act loyally. After Brock gave Jiro most of his Pokémon, Forretress was the only Pokémon Brock took with him to Hoenn.

Forretress got an fair amount of screentime for one of Brock's Pokémon, as it was regularly featured throughout most of the latter Johto episodes and much of early Hoenn. However, it took a backseat to Ludicolo and Mudkip after the midpoint of the Hoenn series. It is also the only Template:Type2 Pokémon a main anime character has had.

Forretress was left at the Pewter Gym when Brock headed to Shin'ō to meet up with Ash.
