Acid (Japanese: ようかいえき Melting Liquid) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation I.
Effect
Generation I
Acid does damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Defense by one stage.
Acid will not be able to lower the target's Defense if it has reached a level of -6 or a value of one, or if the target has a Substitute.
Generation III
Acid will hit both opponents in a Double Battle.
Generation IV
Acid has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense by one stage.

Trivia
- Acid is the only damaging Poison-type move that does not have a chance of poisoning the target.
- Acid has no effect on Template:Type2 Pokémon, despite that real-life acids react very strongly with most metals.
- No Pokémon from Generations II or IV can learn Acid via level-up. The only Pokémon introduced in either of these generations that can legitimately have the move is Bellossom, by evolving a Gloom that has learned the move.
