Appendix:FireRed and LeafGreen walkthrough/Section 2
Section 02: The Cascade Badge
As you try to get onto Route 3, one of [[Prof. Oak’s Aides will stop you and give to you the Running Shoes. He’ll read the direction on how to use them. When he’s gone you’ll find a letter from your Mom. The Pokémon found in Route 3 are:
Dex # / Pokémon / Level / Rarity 016 / Pidgey / 6-7 / Common 021 / Spearow / 6-8 / Common 029 / Nidoran(F) / 6 / Rare 032 / Nidoran(M) / 6 / Rare 039 / Jigglypuff / 5-7 / Rare 056 / Mankey / 7 / Semi-Rare
Once on Route 3, you’ll notice a multitude of Trainers aching for a battle with you. Some of them it is possible to avoid, though I don’t suggest skipping any battles, while others you will have to battle. The First Trainer you’ll encounter will be a Lass with two Pidgey, defeat her then go to the North to the two trainers and beat them as well. One will be a Bug Catcher with Two Caterpie and one Weedle. The Second will a Youngster with a Rattata and an Ekans. You may need to Heal after those three Trainers so, if you do, go back to the Pokémon Center in Pewter City to do so before moving on. If you don’t, continue to the East and you’ll come across another Bug Catcher that has a Weedle, Caterpie, Metapod and Kakuna. If you try to go behind him another Lass will challenge you that has a Rattata and a Nidoran(F). Also, there is another Youngster that has a Spearow just off the ledge directly under the Bug Catcher. Defeat the Bug Catcher, the Lass and then the Youngster then make your way back around and continue to the East. Again, you may need to Heal, so go back and do so. If you’re still good, continue to the East and you’ll encounter yet another Bug Catcher that has a Caterpie and a Metapod. Go to the South and then continue East and you find a third Lass as well that has a Jigglypuff. South of the last Lass, there’s a grassy area that you can catch wild Pokémon in.
Once you are past all of those trainers it is pretty much smooth sailing until you get to Mt. Moon. Simply continue to the East until you reach another grassy area and then proceed to the North and you’ll come to a Pokémon Center and a Cave Entrance. It would be a good idea to Heal, even if you don’t really need it too much, before continuing on.
Once you’ve healed, go into the cave to the East of the Pokémon Center and you’ll see a first person view of Mt. Moon. The Pokémon found in Mt. Moon are:
Dex # / Pokémon / Level / Rarity 035 / Clefairy / / Rare 041 / Zubat / 7-11 / Common 046 / Paras / 7-11 / Common 074 / Geodude / 7-11 / Common
Once inside Mt. Moon, you’ll see a Poké Ball to your left on the other side of a wall. Go up a bit and around the wall and retrieve the Poké Ball, which contains TM09 Bullet Seed. Continue to the left and then go up when you get to another wall. You’ll find another Poké Ball that contains a Paralyze Heal. Go back down and now battle the Bug Catcher that’s just right there. Keep going to the right and a Lass will challenge you near the Entrance to Mt. Moon. Go passed her and then up as you’ll reach a wall and you’ll see a ladder leading down to a lower level, take it. Follow the path the only way that you can and you’ll come to another ladder leading down also. Down the ladder you’ll immediately see a Team Rocket member near the top of the screen and just to the right of the ladder. You can avoid him by going down as far as you can and then to the right. There’s a Poké Ball on a raised section on the right that contains a Star Piece that you can sell later for some money. Go back to the left and Battle the Rocket Member and then go up the ladder. Follow the path again and go up ladder at the end. From the ladder, go down as far as you can and you’ll see a Poké Ball that contains a Potion and a Super Nerd. Go passed the Super Nerd staying at the bottom and you’ll find another Poké Ball. This one has a Rare Candy. From there, go up and you’ll see a Bug Catcher. You can avoid him if you want but I say battle him. Go past him as far right as you can and you’ll find a Poké Ball with an Escape Rope inside. If you need to Heal by now, use the Escape Rope and it’ll set you just outside Mt. Moon’s entrance. Keep going up and you’ll see a man that’s looking for Fossils. He’ll tell you that Brock sometimes helps him excavate. Go to the left from him and you’ll see a Lass Running around in circles battle her and continue passed.
