Terastal energy (Japanese: テラスタルエネルギー Terastal energy) is a type of energy in the Pokémon world derived from the Tera Pokémon, Terapagos. This energy was researched by Professor SadaS/Professor TuroV during their stay in Area Zero. This energy can cause Pokémon to Terastallize, either naturally or through the use of Tera Orbs, a device created by the professor.

In the core series games

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Over 2 million years ago, in the Paldea Region, a Terapagos got trapped in the Area Zero Underdepths due to seismic shifts, there, it slumbered for years, giving birth to the Terestal energy and filling Area Zero's caverns with large Tera crystals and even a crystallized tree, all filled with that very same energy. 10 years ago, Professor SadaS/Professor TuroV started to research on this energy along with a small team with the goal of finding a way to bring Pokémon from other timelines to the present. They eventually managed to use that energy to create and power up Tera Orbs, which they sold all over Paldea, an AI-powered robot with their exact appearance, and a Time Machine used to bring Pokémon from the ancient pastS/distant futureV.

The Teal Mask

Hundreds of years ago, in the land of Kitakami, a man and an ogre carrying with them some Tera crystals and started living there together, with the crystals being eventually used to be create four brilliant masks. At the top of Oni Mountain, at some point, the Crystal Pool was created with countless Tera crystals in its bottom, filling it with Terastal energy, legends say that dead people can be seen around the pool.

The Indigo Disk

A few years ago, in the Unova region, in the Blueberry Academy, specifically the Terarium Core that hangs from the Terarium's ceilling, Briar has created it to fill the whole Terarium with Terastal energy, so Terastallization is possible. She did it by filling the core with a mixture of Paldea soil and water from the Crystal Pool in Kitakami. Later on, she tried adding crystal from the Area Zero Underdepths to the mixture, causing the Pokémon in the Terarium to not only Terastallize, but also Terastallize with the rare, Stellar Type.

During the final battle against Stellar Form Terapagos, the depths were so filled with Terastal Energy, that a Pokémon could be Terastallized several times while Terapagos absorbed it to try and stop the Player from beating it.
