Release Information
This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it was released as a special card by All Nippon Airways in 1998. Passengers flying in conjunction with the "Pokémon Getaways" campaign could redeem their boarding passes for the 2 card set including Dragonite and Flying Pikachu. The English version of the card was one of four possible cards that one could receive by buying a ticket to the theatrical release of Mewtwo Strikes Back. The English version also has a gold foil stamp in the top right corner that reads "Kids WB Presents Pokémon The First Movie". In Japan, this card was later reprinted in Pokémon Web.
Trivia
Origin
Special Delivery may be a reference to how the Dragonite in Mewtwo Strikes Back delivered Mewtwo's invitation to Ash and his friends. This card's Pokédex entry is based on the original entry from Pokémon Red and Green.
