Are items attached to released Pokémon simply discarded along with them, or are they returned to the bag or such? (If so, in which Generations?) --[[User:Tom0027|Tom0027]] ([[User talk:Tom0027|talk]]) 19:41, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

In the games

Should it be added that if Pokémon have a lot of affection to the trainer, it will refuse to leave.--Midnight Blue 00:01, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Probably. You also can't release a Pokémon if it's the only one on your game that knows an HM move (for example, the only Pokémon in your game that knows Surf) to prevent you from getting stranded in a place like Mossdeep City ZestyCactus 00:10, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
What about Gen I and II games? Does it apply there? ht14 02:32, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
I only saw it in Gen II, I have not seen it in Gen IV, or I and II.--Midnight Blue 02:33, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
You mean III... x.x ht14 02:38, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
My bad, yea III--Midnight Blue 02:40, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Jame's Cacnea

Encountering released Pokémon

I've heard people talk about released Pokémon coming back - are these just rumors or can it really happen ? --WenGobou 13:29, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, forgot to mention: they said they encountered them in random encounters. Sounded a bit silly on its own. >.> --WenGobou 15:53, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
Some Pokémon refuse to leave. You can't find released Pokémon in the wild. —darklordtrom 08:30, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
I believe that there is something on one of the cheating devices which allows released Pokémon to appear in the wild. However, this won't be added to the article. And some Pokémon refuse to leave due to HMs that they know. --SnorlaxMonster 08:53, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

Legendary

Do legendaries come back if you release them? Frenchhorn 21:33, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

In the games? yes they can go like any other Pokémon. AquaMaster 22:01, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Once you release a Pokémon, it's gone for good. Legendaries included. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 22:17, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

N's Pokémon.

In sequels you can find N's Pokémon in-wild in certain locations if you use Memory Link (except Zorua which is given by Rood in Driftveil instead). Does this count as an exception to the rule "Released Pokémon cannot be found again in the wild."? They are treated as outsider, due to having N IDs. Also, when I checked N's Zorua via PokéGen (now Zoroark as I evolved it), it said it has 30IVs in everything (When I inserted EVs and stats on Metalkid IV Calculator, it was 29-31 in HP and Attack, and 30-31 in everything else, so it must be true). Can anyone see it if it really has 30IVs always? Marked +-+-+ (talk) 07:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

I would say they would count as an exception to the rule. I can confirm that N's Zorua in both my Black 2 and White 2 has 30 IVs in everything, therefore it must always have 30 IVs in everything. Lady Ariel (talk) 15:15, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Talking about N's Pokémon, can anyone add them to N's article, with moves, location etc.? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:23, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Released vs. Abandoned Pokémon

A lot of the Pokémon in the "Released Pokémon in the Anime" list were actually abandoned instead of released, like Shamus's Tepig and possibly the Snivy as well. Is there a difference? Damian's Charmander isn't on the list, because it was abandoned instead of released. I didn't remove it yet because I assume someone had a good reason for putting them there...
