Fortree City (Japanese: ヒワマキシティ Hiwamaki City) is located approximately between Mauville and Lilycove in the Hoenn region. The city's motto is "The Treetop City that Frolics with Nature."

Fortree's Gym Leader, Winona, uses Flying-type Pokémon. When defeated, she awards the challenger the Featherbadge, which allows the player to use Fly outside of battle.

The inhabitants of Fortree City live in treehouses. Because of the physical exercise needed for such a lifestyle, everyone is healthy and lively.

By preserving the natural enviroment in the area, people are able to live closer to wild Pokémon than in other towns. Sometimes wild Bug-type Pokémon fly in through windows. And wild Kecleon will block certain paths in the city.

The extensive rainwater in the area saturates the soil and causes the trees to grow tall. This is how Fortree City's trees get so large.

There is a shop in Fortree that sells a variety of Secret Base decorations.

A girl in one of the houses will trade her Meowth for a Skitty in Pokémon Emerald. This is the only way to get a Meowth in Hoenn without trading with outsiders.

West of Fortree City is Route 119 and the Weather Institute. East is Route 120 and the Safari Zone beyond that.

In the Pokémon anime, Fortree throws a festival called the Feather Carnival to celebrate wild Flying-type Pokémon.
