Route 29 connects New Bark Town with Cherrygrove City. It appeared in Generation II, and has not appeared since. This is the first route the player comes to in GSC upon recieving a starter from Professor Elm in New Bark Town.

On the north side, a Watch house is stationed halfway along the route, dividing the route from the mountainous road heading south from Blackthorn City, Route 46. Route 29 is a mountain region of Johto, which means that the Headbutt-able trees hold mountain specimens, namely Spearow and Aipom.

The Encounter ratios while walking in the grass are as follows:

Morning and Day

Pidgey: 55%

Rattata: 5%

Sentret: 40%

Night

Hoothoot: 85%

Rattata: 15%

Route 29 is also home to the Dude (Generation II's version of the Old Man), who teaches you how to capture a Rattata, and is the favourite hangout of Tuscany of the Once-A-Week Siblings, who comes there on Tuesdays after you defeat Falkner and gives you the Pink Bow, which jackes up Normal Attacks by 10%.
