Trivia
- In some areas of Japan, this episode was broadcast in two parts instead of as a one-hour special; the opening changes in AG172 debut in this episode instead. The English dub also originally broadcast as a special.
- This episode is directed by 須藤典彦 Norihiko Sudō, who replaces 日高政光 Masamitsu Hidaka.
- This episode was aired as a special to coincide with the release of Pokémon Ranger for the Nintendo DS. When dubbed, Sceptile's evolution had only happened in an episode that aired that morning in America.
- This episode marks the third time that a Pokémon speaks through Meowth. The first time was by a giant Tentacruel in Tentacool and Tentacruel and the second was with Haunter and Gastly in A Shipful of Shivers.
- Although most if not all genderless Pokémon are referred to as male in the Latin American dub, the episode calls Deoxys a female Pokémon, with the use of "ella" by all characters.
- Pokémon Ranger's sequel, Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, also got an anime special in the form of DP071 and DP072.
- This episode, due to Professor Lund's research being used, made Destiny Deoxys canon.
Errors
- May commanded Combusken to use Flamethrower instead of Fire Spin.
