Furious, Hazel returns to Grandpa's laboratory. In exchange for an improved love potion, she agrees to catch Pokémon for his research (and so he may impress girls). She sets off in a new outfit made for her by Grandpa.
Hazel is in love with Almond. Almond is in love with catching Pokémon. In an attempt to win his heart, she feeds him a cake made with love potion. Meanwhile, an adorable Pikachu listens outside Hazel's house... running away when the cake, and house, explode.


Welcome to Poké-World.
Hazel meets Pikachu, but is unsuccessful in catching him. She finds Almond in the middle of trying to catch a {{p|Spearow}}. The Spearow flies away at the sound of Hazel's voice as she apologizes for blowing him up earlier. Hazel tells Almond about Pikachu and tries to draw a picture of him, but it is a poor-quality drawing. Displeased by the picture, Pikachu jumps out at them, at which point Almond promptly tries to catch him. Hazel pushes Almond out of the way, and Pikachu {{m|Thunder Shock}}s both of them. Hazel is somehow left unscathed. Hazel then befriends Pikachu, and Grandpa, watching from a crystal ball, reveals that the suit is resistant to electricity.


Furious, Hazel runs to the laboratory of a creepy old man named Grandpa. Turns out he's the one who gave her the exploding potion. However, in exchange for an even better (non-explosive) love potion, he wants Hazel to catch Pokémon for him, so he can impress girls. She readily agrees and sets off in a new outfit, made for her by Grandpa.

The first Pokémon she meets is the Pikachu which had, unbeknownst to her, been listening at her house earlier. She immediately wants to catch the cute little thing, but it runs away. She chases it and falls flat on her face. Pikachu escapes, and Hazel runs into the boy of her dreams... Almond! He screams, scaring away an Onisuzume he'd been about to catch.

Hazel tries to tell him about Pikachu. She draws a picture, but her art is awful. Watching, Pikachu edges closer. It's seen by Almond, who tries to catch it in a net. Pikachu doesn't like this, and Thundershocks both of them!

Unhurt, Hazel picks up Pikachu and cuddles it. "I'm Hazel," she introduces herself. "Nice to meet you, Pikachu!" Grandpa is watching in a crystal ball, and we find out that the suit he made was what protected Hazel from the shock.
