Pocket Monsters is a shōnen Pokémon manga based on the Pokémon games by Kousaku Anakubo. It is also the first true Pokémon manga.

It is chiefly a gag manga, using crude humor and slapstick. It has two sequels: Pocket Monsters RS, which takes place in Hoenn, and Pocket Monsters DP, which takes place in Sinnoh.

It is translated by Chuang Yi in Singapore, but it's not popular amongst western fans as the art style is so different; many of the Pokémon and characters are unrecognizable.

It appeared, in film form, as a sort of easter egg in Lights, Camerupt, Action.

Chuang Yi announced the American release in the late 1990's, however, the release of this manga in English was impossible due to its Japanese artwork, making the characters very much different.
