The pirate is a character of the day who appeared in Mystery on a Deserted Island!. As the name suggests, he was a pirate and the leader of a gang of Pokémon who inhabit a deserted island near Frond Island.
The pirate is depicted in a museum painting. He first appeared in a flashback when Alexa told Ash and his friends the story about how she found information about a hidden treasure while she went to a pirate museum; this treasure belonged to the pirate. Alexa told the group that he hid his treasure somewhere in the Decolore Islands and the deserted island they were heading to happened to be one of them.
