Thanks for helping out with removing the speculated National Pokédex numbers. I really think it makes more sense to use blanks than --- however. By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Userspace policy

Hello and welcome to Bulbapedia! Please note that posting userspace content such as usertags on your talk page is not allowed as per the userspace policy. However, once you become autoconfirmed, feel free to post them on your user page!--Cold (talk) 22:48, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Just so you know, we are not adding information from there as we are not sure of the validity of the statements the translator claims, as they may just be his own opinions on what the Japanese names may be rather than him actually speaking with the original creators. A former staff member, who is Japanese, even debunked one of his origins at the time. So for now, please don't add them until we know for sure those are the actual origins the original creators intended. Thank you.--ForceFire 08:20, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

Unknown National Pokédex numbers

Thanks for helping out with removing the speculated National Pokédex numbers. I really think it makes more sense to use blanks than --- however. So we can just name the files Fuecoco.png instead of ---Fuecoco.png etc. (and for Pokémon we only have menu sprites for, Fuecoco.png would be a redirect to the menu sprite until we get official artwork). Blanks is how we have traditionally handled unknown National Pokédex numbers. --SnorlaxMonster 08:57, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

SnorlaxMonster (talkcontribs) Ah, yup, sorry about that! The only reason I was going with "---" is because that was the version of the file that the List of Pokémon by National Pokédex number page was linking to. Should I quickly finish up my "making the neighboring mons' images show up in the header (if image files already exist for them)" thing for the last 30 Pokémon pages? Also, User:SnorlaxMonster: does using the User template ping you? Just realizing that it probably doesn't lol Paintspotinfez (talk) 09:20, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
Unfortunately, the only way to ping me is to edit my talk page. Anyway, I should have cleaned up all of the SV menu sprites now. --SnorlaxMonster 05:23, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

If you're willing

This category has also become problematic if you know what to do to fix it. (It was absolutely my fault, so sorry in advance) MaverickNate 03:24, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

Genuinely no worries!! I've just done both "Category:Pokémon cards by Pokédex number" and "Category:Cards by Pokémon" so they're both still sorted by Pokédex number in our "more-than-1000-Pokémon" world without having to limit them to just two single section headers (a gigantic "0" one with 999 Pokémon and a tiny "1" one with 9 Pokémon).
